Guest guest
Hi Thorunn, Basically ocular rosacea for me has been the blepharitis which gives dry, irritated and mildly infected eyes. This can progress to iritis or the iritis may be a result of a more serious autoimmune type of inflammation. No one, even the best eye docs, seems to know for sure. So the very first thing is to keep the infection down and do the warm compresses and eyelid scrubs. Now the other thing that has really made a huge difference for me has been the use of EFA's especially Borage Oil,(1300mg, Vitamin Shoppe) and Flax oil( 1000+daily, Health from the Sun). It takes about two months to see results. I also take a good multiple vitamin and Twin Lab Vitamin E, 400 mg plus Selenium 200mcg. Avoid all alcohol when your eyes are bothering you, as it can make your eyes worse in an instant. I had a one time bout with iritis when I had stopped my EFA's and vitamin E/selenium, so that made a believer of me. Many of the folks on the Iritis.org site have reported how taking selenium helps heal and prevent iritis. The excellent ophthalmologist in Beverly Hills, that my son sent me to last spring, told me that the way to tell if you are getting iritis vs blepharitis is that with iritis you develop light sensitivity and eyeball pain. Hope this information helps. Kate
