Guest guest
I have a friend who just had a baby, she emailed me for help but I don't have the answer for her. Can any of you help? >>I started getting terrible pinching pain when BF Cecily the second day in the hospital. Then my nipples became cracked and bleeding. So the lactation specialist said she was latched on wrong, and we fixed that, but the soreness never went away, so this week I went to a LLLI meeting and they said she was on properly and since the Lansinoh didn't give any relief it was probably Thrush, so now I'm on medication for Thrush and that's not helping either!!! Putting Cecily to the breast is so painful and therefore so difficult right now. I actually having been pumping for the last 24 hrs. and giving her breastmilk by bottle b/c I just finally couldn't handle the pain anymore. Yet still the nipples are very cracked and sore, just no longer bleeding. So after explaining my whole week long Saga to you, my questions are these: Will this EVER get better? Does this sound like Thrush and would my pedi. know? Do you have any advice for me? I'm at my wits end, since I've called 4 lactation specialists and even had one come to my home, plus going out to the LLL meeting, and everyone gives great advice but then I get home and I still remain in pain. AUGH!<< Michele
Guest guest
>Hi! My name is , and I am new to your group. I have had some >experience with thrush (yeast) and sore nipples, as I am a pump rental >station and a postpartum doula. > , thanks for the info, I'm not sure if you understood in my first email, this isn't for me, it's for a friend :-) I asked what meds she was taking and if the baby was taking anything and she replied with this " I thought the medication would work more quickly, I guess not. But yes I'm using the Nystatin cream and Cecily's using the Nystatin oral drops. Let me know what the girls on your list say. I've been pumping since Friday night and I feel a bit of relief, since the nipples are still cracked, but I can put the pump on minimum and it's more gentle than BF. Once Steve is back to work Monday morning though, then I will have to BF again so I hope it's not painful!!! " I will pass on your information to her :-) Michele
