Guest guest
Since their has been so much talk about citrus scents because of Ann-Marie's new scent I thought it would be a good idea to send these along:-) ~n Rocky Mountain Bath Time Pleasures CITRUS SUNSET Recipe By : Tony Reynolds 12 ounces lye 32 ounces cold water 24 ounces olive oil 4 ounces EO 2 ounces sweet orange EO 1 teaspoon paprika 1/4 cup oatmeal -- finely ground 1/4 cup fresh calendula petals Please Note: This is a basic white all-vegetable recipe. It makes about 1 gallon of soap (128 oz.). At trace (about 1 hour and 15 minutes of stirring) I split the batch in two for two swaps. In one half for the " Citrus Sunset " Soap I added: 2 oz. Sweet Orange EO 1 tsp. Paprika 1/4 cup Oatmeal, very finely ground (I use a coffee grinder) 1/4 cup fresh Marigold (Calendula) Petals Directions: Pour the finished soap into a clean 1/2 gallon paper milk carton. Peel back the top pour/spout part and tape against the side of the carton. Place container in a small cardboard box with a blanket as a cover to conserve warmth for 24-36 hours. When firm, carefully peel away the milk carton and cut into bars with a very sharp thin-bladded knife. Each 5/8 " to 3/4 " slice across the block can in turn be cut into two bath-size bars. For swap-size bars, cut a 1/2 " slice and then section into 4 bars. NOTES : A sweet orange-oatmeal-calendula flower petal mix with paprika as the coloring agent. It turned out a nice orange-red and smells wonderful. ************************************************************ Citrus & Calendula Soap by Jan Teaford 1 # M & P transparent soap base A handful of calendula petals (dried) , about 1/4 cup 15 drops of yellow food coloring ( I used the Wal-Mart soap color) 3/4 tsp. grapefruit EO 1/2 tsp. tangerine EO 1 TBSP melted shea butter ..melted separately Melt the soap base and at the same time melt the shea butter in a custard cup placed in a pan of boiling water or in the microwave. Add calendula petals to the melted base, a few drops of yellow food coloring, the EO and then the melted shea butter. Try to have this the same temp as the melt and pour. Keep stirring the soap/ shea butter mixture. As it starts to set up spoon into molds. ( By spooning you have more control how many of the calendula leaves go into each mold.) I like to let my molds set at room temp until them are skimmed over fairly firm then I chill them in the freezer for about a half hour before removing them from the mold and place them on a rack to finish drying completely. ***** By stirring the soap/shea butter mixture as it cools the butter will not float to the top and make little circles of butter which might look like mold to those that don't know. ************************************************************** Citrus Yum by Holli McCarty ½ lb. Transparent MP base 3 drops lemon oil 3 drops grapefruit oil 3 drops orange oil fruit wedges mold orange/yellow colorant Melt the MP base. Add essential oils or fragrance oils. Add a few drops of yellow/orange dye. I mixed red and yellow food coloring. Pour into molds. When I want to do each the " correct " color and flavoring for each fruit wedge, I use plastic leftover yogurt cups, pour my base into it (after heated) then do the color mixing and flavoring. ************************************* Lemon Orange Scrub soap 6 oz coconut oil 4 oz Olive Oil 7 oz Palm Oil 2 oz sunflower Oil Super fat with 2 oz emu oil 3 oz Lye 8 fluid oz water ( I boiled fresh lemon rinds in water for about an hour and used that water) I added about a handful of cornmeal and some Mandarin Orange FO at light trace. ************************************* LEMON MERANGUE PIE LOTION This naturally fragrant lotion is perfect for the body and face.
