There are a bunch of things that happen at this age that might be contributory.

The problem is trying to get someone to look at these factors and run numbers.

What is really scary is what this phenomena, whatever causes it, is doing to the

next generation. What about the kids who don't get diagnosed? And what about

their fertility? I'm going to guess that the boys should be checked for low

sperm counts and damaged sperm as well. Brings three legged frogs to mind and

fish with extra gills.

I shudder to think that this is what industry has done to our children, our only

hope for the future. What terrible short sightedness and what a terrible price!

I exposed myself to many dangerous chemicals not just on the job but renovating

an old house. This kids are total innocents and, if this is induced by the

environment, this is inexcusable! What can we do? Really. We are smart,

strong, and used to fighting. What can we do?

Laurel,

I have also seen several young boys. They seem to be about 9 yr. to 11 yr. old

But the more common theme, I believe is females, during hormone changes.

I believe Graves takes a group of things gone wrong, and then the hormones could

be the

thing that is the final straw , so to speak.

We may end up with more young girls on this list, as I now have my eyes peeled

for them,

and will continue to try to invite their moms to this list. So our percentage of

young

girls could end up being higher than on other lists. Time will tell.

The young gals simply pull my heart strings, and I see the wonderful veterans

here are

willing to help. Good combination I think.

Holly, :-) I though you had mentioned some people like this.

Are you still feeling better ?

So, where do you live? We moved away from a small town in the Northwest that

sprayed malathion on a regular basis to control mosquitoes. There was a high

rate of cancer and respiratory problems there. They sprayed all over the

town regularly during the summer and every night during " fair week. " We

fought the town over it, got labeled all sorts of things, then moved when we

realized they weren't going to change. Our children and their children were

at risk for cancer down the road.

I often wonder if just that short 18 months had an impact on my daughter with

Graves' disease. We think she may have developed it there. . .

I took the pills at 8, left and came back at 2 and they took all the pictures

then while I relaxed and listened to The Beatles. Not a big deal at all.
