Guest guest
] Help Prevent Drastic Medicaid Cuts Tell your Members of Congress to Extend the FMAP Increase to States Without Delay! SUMMARY: FMAP is one of the most critical funding sources for states across the country and it is used to determine the amount of federal matching funds for state medical expenditures. In 2009, the Congress passed legislation for a six month enhanced FMAP, which provided $87 billion to state Medicaid programs. It is vitally important that Congress now get final approval for another six-month enhanced FMAP extension. Without this enhanced extension, states will be forced to make very deep cuts in programs. Nearly all states are finalizing budgets that begin FY 2011 on July, so it is vital that Congress take swift action before the Memorial Day Recess. TAKE ACTION: Call your members of Congress: · Visit AUCD’s Action Center to find out the name of your US Representative (scroll down and enter your zip code) · Dial the Capitol Switchboard at , TTY: and ask for the office of your Representative · Ask to speak to the person working on health issues · Identify yourself as a constituent and the organization that you represent (if any) Message to House Members: “I am calling to urge [your Representative] to sign on to the FMAP Dear Colleague letter being circulated by Representatives Pingree, Baldwin, Green, and Capps. People with disabilities depend on Medicaid for their very survival. Without an extension of the Medicaid FMAP increase, we will lose vital services. The deadline for signing on is the end of this week. Offices that agree to sign-on should contact in Rep. Pingree's office.” Or, email your members of Congress directly using AUCD’s Action Center – just click on FMAP Extension, enter your information and click send. --- You are currently subscribed to aucd_coca as: benito@....
