Autism Support Network - News & Updates

Adulthood and autism

This week we highlight some video and articles on adults with autism, perspectives and some of the challenges faced both by the individuals themselves, the parents of these adults and the "system" that no longer is built to support these adults. Many thanks for your continued support of the Autism Support Network.

While most of us engage in social interaction/ regulation intuitively, many students with social learning challenges who have good to excellent language and cognition (e.g., High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified, Asperger Syndrome and/or Attention Deficit Disorder) are weak in their ability to think about how we think socially. They also often lag behind their peers in the development of their social relationship skills. Read more

Autistic boy slapped with felony assault! by the wildeman2

Zakh Price is 11 years old and holds a functioning IQ of 68, as far as anyone knows. It's really hard to believe they know enough about this child at all since they want to have him charged with felony assault. Did I mention he has autism? It's a new beginning and It is going to be a great year by shannons70

Well last year is over and gone! Hooray! A new year and a clean slate - it's perfect. I am taking some test so that I can work at a company called NTI online. My disability job counselor told me about them. I am in the process of completing them and anxiously await hearing back from them very soon. It will be a part time job.

We hope that you enjoy your time with us, and are connecting with others who can provide guidance and support.

Sincerely, FieldAutism Support Network
