Rescue Family Grant Program Success Story: Christian LoafmanChristian Loafman has been fighting to find words since he was 18 months old, and now, with the help of Generation Rescue's Rescue Family Grant program, he is succeeding! Kari Loafman, mom to Christian (pictured at right), expresses her gratitude for the Rescue Family grant program in her story below. The grant program provides families with autistic children who have not received biomedical treatments with free doctor visits, vitamins and supplements, and guidance in implementing the treatments. Generation Rescue has provided these grants to more than 150 families since the program's inception in summer 2009."Generation Rescue changed my son's life. Our prayers for his recovery were answered when we received a biomedical grant. Christian's language and communication skills exploded in addition to seeing a significant improvement in socialization. He is now using multiple-word

sentences rather than one-word phrases. His increase in expressive language has greatly decreased his frustration level. We also saw positive changes in other aspects of his health and body function.""The biomedical intervention was a major key to his road of recovery. His body started to function on a new and different level, and I have seen firsthand how early intervention, therapy and biomedical intervention can make a profound difference for our kids. Christian's recovery soared once we were able to add the biomedical aspect to his treatment plan. This has been such a difficult and emotional journey but has also been one of the most rewarding journeys for our family. His progress is nothing short of a miracle in my eyes and we will forever be grateful to Generation Rescue for helping to make this happen."

Rescue Family doctor spotlight How one doctor takes our Rescue Family grant program to a new level When Dr. Gerken (pictured with his family at right) was approached to become a New Generation Medical Doctor and participate in Generation Rescue's Rescue Family grant program, he said the choice was easy. We learned just how easy that decision was when we received the final paperwork back from one of the grantees of the program. Instead of the two visits that GR asked doctors to donate, Dr. Gerken had seen our grantee 22 times! We are amazed by Dr. Gerken's generosity and dedication to his patients. The grantee Dr. Gerken was assigned to see improved more than 10 points on his Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC) in three months! Dr. Gerken has also generously agreed to see more grantees for the next Rescue Family grant program round, which begins this month.Dr. Gerken treats patients with autism and ADHD with a combination of chiropractic,

cranial sacral, listening method, and others therapies to help guide parents down the path of recovery. You can make an appointment to see Dr. Gerken by calling or by visiting his Web site at gerkenfamilychiropractic.com.

Canadian woman supports autism patients' art classes with candle company

Sherry Quail of Ontario, Canada works with adults who have autism spectrum disorders. When she attempted to register one of her patients for an art class, she was turned away because of the woman's diagnosis. Sherry was undeterred: she started her own art program so that her patients can enjoy arts and crafts, too.The funding for these classes comes from a small candle business that Sherry also started. The candles are all-natural, soy, environmentally friendly, and have lead-free wicks. For more information or to purchase a candle, visit www.delitecandleworks..com. Ten percent of all proceeds is donated to autism awareness organizations and helps to keep the art classes

going.

Kirkman recalls select productsRead a letter from the company's COO below

Dear Kirkman Customer and Distributor,It has come to Kirkman's attention that a raw material vendor has supplied Kirkman with stevia that has a higher content of antimony than may be acceptable for our special needs customers. The problem is limited to only two lots of stevia, which were used in several Kirkman® products. These products affected by the high antimony levels are:1. Zinc Liquid - - Product # 387/8 and 387/16 2. Super Nu-Thera w/o A and D - - Product # 447/4543. DMAE 50 mg. Chewable - - Product # 489/904. Super Nu-Thera Powder Orange - - Product # 410/4545. B Complex Powder Pro Support - - Product #399/7 6. TMG w/Folinic and B-12 Powder - - Product #413/4 and 413/87. Chewable Vitamin C Tablets - - Product #389/100 and

389/2508. Trial sizes of the above seven productsYou should stop using these products, destroy them and request a credit or replacement from Kirkman®. Please call our customer service department to make this request. Raw material suppliers or nutraceutical companies are not required to test for antimony levels, so Kirkman® was not aware of this problem until two of our physician customers brought the issue to our attention as a result of their metal testing. We immediately had our laboratory research the issue. They quickly isolated the problem to two specific lots of stevia leaf extract. Kirkman® immediately stopped using the affected stevia and stopped shipping products that tested out at high antimony levels. So that this situation does not reoccur, we have implemented a new policy that every raw material we use in our products will be tested for antimony. Kirkman®

apologizes for any inconvenience we may have caused because of this issue. We have instituted this voluntary action regarding the suspect products because we feel it's the right thing to do. Kirkman® will not compromise on the quality standards we have been known for throughout our more than 60 years of business.Sincerely,Larry NewmanCOO Technical and Regulatory AffairsKirkman Group
