Good point, thanks. When we went to sell our house, we went with someone that a neighbor had glowing recommendations about. She turned out to be an utter disaster for us. We should go by what's good for us, even if they are highly recommended and good for someone else. Darcy
Guest guest
Darcy, I take a lot of Excedrine migraine as well. I have yet to find anything that works better. I am looking for a more natural approach though. I cannot believe that the DR thought one little Milky Way was so bad. I can tell you that that one little piece of candy will not cause you problems. If you ate the bag, well then you may have issues. Liz Scrap in a Snap Consultant #10811 siasliz@... Proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!

Guest guest
I agree with everyone else - don't go near that quack again. As far as exercise goes though, there likely are some that you can learn to do. I went to a very knowledgeable physiotherapist to get help. I was at my wits end. I could barely hobble. Well, he baby-stepped me into learning how to stretch my muscles. Then he baby-stepped me into other useful exercises. It was a slow process, but I followed his instructions and didn't over do it. My progress became apparent within the first few visits. I thought I was gonna keel over and die when I did the first simple stretch. He assured me I wouldn't :-) It's been four years since I started doing the PT and baby-step by babystep I have made leaps and bounds. However, when I don't do my exercises, my body seizes up quicker than I can say Rumplestiltskin. Then I have to start at the beginning again. Doing the stretches and exercises every day gets monotonous, but it beats the alternative. Remember even doing a couple of simple shoulder shrugs or reaching your arm above your head is an exercise, so don't give up!! He made several references to " I *am* the doctor " so after dh and I talked it over later on, we think he just likes to be the great doctor who whizzes in, solves your problems and rides off again. Of course, if you have problems with what he says or questions about things, then he gets to brand you as having a poor attitude for not doing what the great doctor says. I'm not going back. Guest guest
I am sure I would have said much more. I used to be shy and quiet, but something happens to you when become a mother. Years ago when you had to *go* to the unemployment office to pick up your check, my husband and I went to get his. This woman was telling him that they didn't have his check. Well, we had a baby that needed diapers (we lived with my mother in law and that is a whole different email!!) Anyway, this woman was telling hubby that they *did not* have his check. I was NOT going to take *no* for an answer, so I leaned across that counter and said, " I *know* you've got the check, you need to go back there and take another & *$#in' look because if you don't things are gonna get real & $%#in' ugly! " My husband was quite embarrassed, but hey, gotta do whatcha gotta do! Well, sure enough, she came back with his check! Since then, if I know I'm being wronged, you bet I'm gonna speak up! And loud! Everybody has rights. If you feel that you are not being treated right or you don't like the way you're treated, speak up. We're not going to go back to him. I was raised to be ultra respectful of adults and authority. It's taken me years to break out of this, and doctors are probably one of the last remaining things I have to get past thinking I can't challenge them. I did at least start to stick up for myself by challenging him on his challenging me on my crying, so that's a start. As dh said this morning, if he really cared about me getting better via his program, he'd have made some kind of arrangements for payments. I can't believe that there isn't anything he can't recommend for me to do besides doing his program or nothing. His only other recommendations for me were shut off the tv in the bedroom (probably good advice), get a humidifier (seems to me it didn't work for me for some reason, but I'll try again), and join weight watchers immediately. He did tell dh that it " is probably a good idea if you loose some weight too " , but didn't tell him he needed to join weight watchers and dh is much more overweight than I am!! So I'm going back to what I feel is best for me. Darcy

I'm very gradually working just a hair farther each day so as to not over do it. I guess this will have to do because no one will refer me to a pt therapist and I can't just go on my own. Snicker! Thanks! He had a very arrogant manner to him, he even said several times, " I'm the doctor, don't try to tell me " . I didn't remember this, but Dane said he even put his feet up. I really was stunned when most people do drink coffee/tea/sodas, that there was no " credit " given because I didn't do those things, and he had to find fault with a tiny piece of candy. I could have understood it, if I sat down and ate a whole bag at a time, or I was eating a full size bar of candy after every meal. I don't care if he does see 5 fibro cases a day, I'm not a case, I'm an individual. He made absolutely no effort to find out if my symptoms such as my snoring were from any other cause, he just assumed it was because I needed to loose weight. I've had a very mild case of tininitus for years (on and off) from damage done to my hearing in the Navy, this was long before I even began to have any fibro symptoms. Nope, that couldn't be it, it was from a trigger point in front of my ears. >.the 1st rheumy I went to was totally > like the one you just described to the T....you don't happen to go to this > guy in Ft.Wayne, Indiana do you???...lol Gee, this guy is in Charlotte, NC, but maybe they're brothers?
