Guest guest
Darcy, I guess that Chattanooga's just too far for you to drive to go to a pain clinic, isn't it? I've got the BEST pain clinic here and it sounds like exactly what you need :-( - At 06:52 AM 10/17/01 -0400, you wrote: >Gee, this guy is in Charlotte, NC, but maybe they're brothers? >Darcy

Guest guest
Darcy, I agree with Shay. No doctor should treat any of us as one block short of a full load. We are intelligent people. In fact, from some of the postings I have seen on this list there seems to be a lot of doctors that are rude and I don't think very ethical. My opinion only. The one that said the person should get a boyfriend. How in the heck will that help. There seems to be a large group of doctors out there that do not believe in fibro. Why don't they send you to someone that does? I blame the HMO's for about 90 percent of the problems we are having. Also the problems that we are having with medication cost and whether they will cover a prescription or not. I have to take a medication for to thin the blood or I will have some more mini strokes or another kind of stroke that I don't want to think about. I am charged once a month 96.00 for a months supply until January then they will cover brand named drugs until I reach 1,200.00. Now how long do you think that will last. One good thing. My doctor and my pharmacists with a lot of help from my husband got the HMO to override my prescription for mscontin and give me the generic. They did not want to pay for that but my husband won't take no if it is important to my health. He will go t0 the top person if he has to. Take care, Irene > Oh Darcy, I agree with whomever said he is a complete idiot. Now mind you, > I > have seen my fair share of those as well. Guest guest
I am on another pain list and the owner has the attitude that if your doctor is not helping you to fire him. Don't waste a lot of time that could have you being helped by another doctor. He get rather irate if someone comes on complaining about not getting help from their doctor. I agree that we should treat them as we do others that work for us. If they can't do things right, get rid of them and find another. Keep looking until you find that one that will help. Guest guest
Darcy, What might be good for someone else might not be good for you. In this fibro, we all have the problems with pain but we don't always have the same main problem that is hard to live with. Guest guest
No all. My doctor is an exception. He has worked with me to get the right medication. If I tried one and it did not help, we would try another. Found mscontin and Vicodon. Take care, Irene > ....It seems all rheumys are totally against narcotics

I think sometimes we tend to forget that we are paying our doctors for the service they provide us. Think of it this way--if your car needed to be fixed and the mechanic said that the problem was all in your head, would you just accept that and keep driving the car? Of course not. Doctors may have a lot of education but that doesn't necessarily mean that they know everything and that they never make mistakes or misjudge others. I'd be walking backwards out the door if my doctor started giving me the kind of lecture others on this list have heard. I thank my lucky stars that I have a truly wonderful doctor who actually listens to me and trusts me to be truthful when discussing my illness. He's a caring and compassionate man who not only accepts that FMS is a real disease, but also encourages me to research alternative treatment options and to bring my notes with me when I see him so we can go over them together. The most amazing part of my situation is that I chose him more or less at random when I became ill. It was literally a case of me saying " Just give me whichever doctor I can see right away. " Take heart, everyone! There really ARE good doctors out there. The trick, of course, is to find them. One suggestion I would make is to look into whatever FMS support groups that may exist in your area--those are the people who can tell you who the good doctors are! Cheers, Diane

Guest guest
I was raised to be respectful too, but being walked all over by people that take advantage of that, is a whole different ball game! I'll be nice to them as long as they don't think they're gonna walk all over me and take advantage of me.
