Guest guest
Dear Listmates, Yesterday, at a regular meeting of the Special Needs Advisory Committee (SNAC), a Board member of Broward County Human Services informed SNAC that it has been recommended to them that as part of budget planning for next fiscal year to ELIMINATE FUNDING FOR ADVOCACY SERVICES IN THE COUNTY. That would mean no longer funding UCP ADVOCACY, FND, AND BROWARD LEGAL AID!! The SNAC community unanimously voted to support continuing funding for advocacy services. The matter will be discussed at the April 16th meeting at Tree Tops Park at 11 am. I urge you all to help mobilize the Broward Special Needs community to attend this meeting, to speak at the meeting and to also write letters of support for Advocacy. Please write about how the elimination of Broward Advocacy Services would impact you, your child and family!! I will find out on Monday where these letters should be sent to. But also feel free to e-mail or fax them to me and I will bring them to the meeting: Ida.Kessler@... or . Please forward this information to all people that may be interested in helping us preserve free advocacy services for Broward families with children with autism and other disabilities. We need all the help we can get! In advance, thank you all for your attention and action on this urgent matter. Sincerely, Ida Kessler Advocacy Coordinator United Cerebal Palsy of Broward Ida.Kessler@... FAX:
