Yes, I actually have worked for 3 different ones in North Miami & Broward cty. I have been employed at the Tender Care Center PPEC for almost 7 yrs as their OT. These are usually medically fragile children that are infants to 22 yrs. Many receive hospital homebound schooling, some are at the center approx 12 hrs a day for nursing, OT/PT/RT/ST, some only come on school holidays. Our center is open 6 days a week and we have our own transportation. The children have complex health needs. There is no "behaviorist" or sensory room. PPECs are not set up as schools or rehab clinics. I occasionally bring my daughter (17 now) however, as previously stated it is not set up for our children unless they have complex medical needs also. My

daughter usually brings her own portable dvd and stays in my office most of the day if I have to bring her - I prefer not to. I love my job and the management and support staff here. Any other questions please feel free to email me directly.

Hi guys I just recently heard about Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) Has anyone every heard of this and if so do you guys know where there are any centers in south Florida? Here what it is in case some don't know:Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) centers are non-residential health care centers for Medicaid eligible children from birth through age 20 with medically-complex conditions and require continuous therapeutic or skilled nursing supervision. PPECs include an array of services focused on meeting the medical, developmental, physical, nutritional, and social needs of the children who require short, long-term, or intermittent services. When approved, children can attend a PPEC up to a maximum of 12 hours per day while their parents or guardians are unavailable to care for them. PPECs provide a less restrictive alternative to institutionalizatio n, and reduce the isolation that home bound children may experience.
