Guest guest
Does anyone know if a child who has an IEP but has NEVER attended a public pre-k or public school eligible for McKay scholarship?
Guest guest
The McKay statute is very clear on enrollment in public schools and eligibility. There are basically only 3 requirements: http://www.floridaschoolchoice.org/Information/McKay/faqs.asp 1) An IEP. The IEP has to be a public school IEP, thats how the matrix or McKay Scholarship amount is figured. It ranges from about $3,500 to $20,000 yr and is a little different from County to County. 2) 1 year enrolled in a public school, specifically during the 2 FEFP counts. 3) student accepted at a participating McKay school There have been Bills in the last 4 State Legislative sessions to reduce the time enrolled requirement. This year Rep Llorente and Senator Storms are sponsoring Bills. Guest guest
I'm pretty sure that one of the pre-requisites for getting a McKay is that the child had to have attended public school for a year. To make sure, you can check on their website.
