GR and Autism One: May 24-30Biggest autism conference of the year to be held in Chicago

Generation Rescue has partnered with AutismOne to host the AutismOne Generation Rescue Autism Redefined 2010 conference at the Westin O'Hare Hotel in Chicago, Illinois from May 24-30, 2010. Music To Our Ears...Ordinarily we highlight one CD each newsletter, but we wanted to take the opportunity to recognize all the great artists that are donating to our cause. Click on the CD title that interests you to learn more about the musical talent that supports GR!The Acoustic for Autism compilation is a collection of songs conveying themes of healing and hope. The FACES CD uses hip rap and rock songs to help kids ages 5 and up discuss the typical social challenges that children with autism face.The Flutterbys' 20-song original CD is titled "Jungle Jam", reflecting its many delightful animal songs.Therapists, Teachers, and Parents have described the CD created by Kidz Town Rock to be a valuable tool for helping kids of all ages learn and generalize various social skills.Kresleigh Hedrick is 10 years old and has a close friend with Autism. "Shame on PBS Frontline, 'The Vaccine War'"Jay Gordon, MD FAAP speaks out in response to the documentary aired on April 27, 2010"Last night, PBS aired a show called 'The Vaccine War.' I was interviewed at great length and in great depth about vaccines and my point of view and expressed my ambivalence about the

polarization of this issue and the need for more calm reasoned discussion about the number one question that new parents have. I told Kate McMahon, the co-producer of the show, that there was a large group of doctors and others who cannot be dismissed with the facile label 'anti-vaccine' because we still give vaccines and see a place for them in the practice of medicine, but we do not agree with the current vaccine schedule nor the number of vaccines children receive all at one time.A few days ago, Ms. McMahon emailed me to tell me that the decision had been made to omit my interview from the show. There would not be one word from me. She didn't tell me that she had also omitted 100% of Dr. Sears' interview. And that any other comments from physicians supporting the parents on the show in their ambivalence about vaccines or their decision to refuse all vaccines would also be omitted.Below is my email response to Kate

Generation Rescue's Rescue Family Grant ProgramApplications are still available for next round of grant program

The Generation Rescue Rescue Family grant program application is now available.Generation Rescue's Rescue Family grants are designed to provide support to individuals and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. Each grant recipient receives two doctor visits with a specially trained physician who treats autism; vitamins, minerals and supplements for 90 days, laboratory testing, a Generation Rescue Rescue Mentor and dietary intervention training. Eligible children for the grant must have an Autism diagnosis, have not done biomedical treatments, and fall 10% below the median income for their state.Applications should be received no later than May 31, 2010. Incomplete applications will not be considered. To get a grant application click here.We are very excited to start off the third round of this program!
