Guest guest Posted March 13, 2010 Report Share Posted March 13, 2010 Teaching sign language to children with autism involves utilizing approaches that take into consideration the individual motor planning issues that children with autism often display. ASL is not a good approach. Also there may be a need to train the child in pre-sign strategies to get them ready for sign training. I have developed two approaches specifically for teaching children sign language to children with autism.
