Guest guest
My son has been taking it for 3, maybe close to 4 years. He takes a 2.5 mg. extended/delayed release and 2 mg. We started giving it to him because he used to struggle going to sleep and winding down. It helps regulate his sleep/wake schedule, has no side effects (for him) and I've read it improves his body's ability to methylate and increase his production of and processing of glutathione. We have had good results. Never used it during the day though. Sent from my iPhone Does anybody have experience with using melatonin as a sleep aid or day-time calming aid with their ASD child? Guest guest
oh yes, we use it every night. We use the spray, you can get it so many places, GNC, Tunies, any health food store, Whole Foods. our son falls asleep beautifully but our issue was staying asleep. If your issue is falling asleep it will work like a charm. Guest guest
Me too. I use 1 mg of melatonin...a crushed pill in jello right after dinner. It's magical after spending years of getting my daughter to calm down at bedtime. She's 6 now. We are also under Dr. Udell's care (biomedical/pediatrician). It really is the safest thing and not medicine, just all natural. He says our daughter can take up to 3 mg but we haven't had to increase yet. It was magical for my daughter and I have two other typical daughters who ask for it when they have a big day the following day (like Christmas and Easter!) _______________________________ America's Most Wanted\Producer\Florida Bureau Cell Email: Det@... Guest guest
We used melatonin a when my daughter was about 2 1/2-3 years old. When we gave her the 3mg, we noticed she got very irritable just before she fell asleep. She also had some nightmares and awoke cranky. We stopped it. We just recently started her on it again, but halved the dose. This seems to work great. We grind it up and give it to her with applesauce, yogurt or whatever we can hide it in! Give it a try > > > > Subject: Melatonin and autistic children > To: sList > Date: Sunday, June 6, 2010, 11:03 AM > > > Â > > > > Does anybody have experience with using melatonin as a sleep aid or day-time calming aid with their ASD child? >
