When we gave her the 3mg, we noticed she got very irritable just before she fell asleep. She also had some nightmares and awoke cranky. We stopped it. We just recently started her on it again, but halved the dose. This seems to work great. We grind it up and give it to her with applesauce, yogurt or whatever we can hide it in! Guest guest
We have used meletonine for years its great. Many Mainstream Dr’s do suggest kids on the spectrum take it as a sleep aid. That said if you have a history of skin cancer in the family it is recommended that you do not use it.

Guest guest
Cannot find the posting, but one lady mentioned that overdoses of Melatonin (more than a few mg) get her child over-exited. Like with everything, all children are different. In our son we observed the rule "much helps much". The more he takes, the faster he falls asleep. He accidentally once got a massive overdose (by grabbing the pipette and sucking it clean in a split-second). Must have been 10 or 15mg. He fell asleep on the floor within 5 minutes. We noticed no good or bad side effects then or later. MW

Guest guest
I’ve yet to meet a Dr who has not said that is Melatonin’s one draw back.
Guest guest
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1317110/ http://iv.iiarjournals.org/content/23/5/733.abstract All three of these say it might actually PROTECT against melanoma. But it is not without side effects. It can worsen hypertension, cause sexual dysfunction, and more. http://www.personalhealthzone.com/herbal_medicine/side_effects/melatonin_side_ef\ fects.html and other sites. And we do not know the effects of long term supplementation. do we change receptors? change end organs? The harmful effects of long term supplementation take years, decades to figure out. We haven't been using long enough to know what we are doing. > > I’ve yet to meet a Dr who has not said that is Melatonin’s one draw > back. > > > 1 of 1 File(s) melatonin.pdf
Guest guest
Quite frankly, , I do not understand the grammar of your sentence, and therefore not its meaning either. Can you fill me (us?) in? Thanks and greetings, MW Subject: Re: Melatonin and autistic childrenTo: sList Date: Wednesday, June 9, 2010, 4:00 PM I’ve yet to meet a Dr who has not said that is Melatonin’s one draw back.
