feeding question

I have a question for mommies of babies 6-8 months old. When did you (or do

you plan) begin introducing solids and what did you start with? I have

learned so much from everyone on the list and am interested in different

perspectives.

Ryker is 7 months and he has had a few evenings when I fed him barley

cereal and then one evening when I fed him jarred peaches. He really

doesn't have much interest in it and seems to be happy nursing.

With three teeth, would he be able to eat a few sliced up green beans from

his high chair tray? I know I should know this as a second-time mom, but

this exclusive breastfeeding arrangement has thrown me off a bit. I am

wanting to make him feel a bit more included at meal times.

I have had to put both boys in daycare since my home sitter quit. I decided

to be very firm about my decision to continue nursing since the daycare is

within walking distance from work. The daycare workers seem to actually be

relieved that it will mean one less mouth to feed! I think they are a bit

surprised at how casual I am about it because when I went to feed Ryker

this morning, I just sat down in the chair and latched him on. The workers

were scurrying around, ready to shut the door and I explained to them that

it wasn't a problem for me. My shirt pretty well covered everything anyway.

Maybe I will be able to serve as an example for others and more moms will

decide to breastfeed.

Another question: how long will fenugreek keep? I have a bottle from 1996

that I found. Should I pitch it?

By the way, isn't this National Breastfeeding Week or something? I am going

to do a net search and see what I can find.
