Guest guest
Hi - I'm so sorry you're going through this. What is the generic/molecular/chemical name of Strumazol? I'm in the U.S. and many of our drugs are similar or the same but are named differently. I looked in the Physician's Desk Reference for Strumazol and was unable to find it. I might have better luck if I have a molecular name. What is it used for? I don't know if your country has a similar system to our FDA but do you know what class of teratogen the drug is if they do? Your hair falling out like that could definitely be a result of thyroid level changes. I would not recommend RAI to anyone that intends to get pregnant in the future. Many, many of us post-RAI people have unexplained infertility afterwards. It's been a nightmare for me, not just because of the infertility but also because of medical mismanagement after RAI, and I've posted quite extensively about what I'm going through. The posts are in the archives. If I can help you in any way at all, let me know. Guest guest
Hi beth I'm so sorry that you feel so bad and you were faced with the decision about what to do regarding your pregnancy. I pray all goes well for you on Wednesday. I don't know about the medications you on so I can't comment about their side effects. I do know that of all the ATDs PTU is the safest in pregnancy as not much of it crosses the placenta barrier. Also hair loss can be a symptom of hyper or hypo thyroidism and of early pregnancy (it varies from person to person. During my pregnancies my hair stopped falling out and then afterwards it would fall out again). Many of your other symptoms could also be the pregnancy. Regarding RAI. It is best for you to make the decision on any permanent treatment. It is great that you are asking questions and researching - continue to do so until you are comfortable enough to make an informed decision. RAI and thyroidectomies mean permanent removal of thyroid tissue. The thyroid is extremely important to all our of our body's functions. Replacement medications do not exactly replicate the thyroid hormones (despite what the Drs say, many people have ongoing problems associated with this). There are many here who have had RAI and will answer you with more detailed info about it. I had a sub total thyroidectomy and am doing really well now. I still have natural thyroid tissue producing hormone, which I am convinced helps me. Don't be pushed into anything you aren't sure about. Guest guest
Hi , I am so sorry you have had a miscarriage. About the contractioons, I had them just like you for weeks. I am glad I have had that terrible day behind me. I am doing quiete ok now, but I decided to stay at home from work for one day anyway. About the meds, yes, Strumazol is similar to Carbimazol, and Thyrax is a Thyroid Replacement hormone. And yes again, they are blocking my thyroid completely, so it probably has to do with the dosage. I do want to have children, though. I could probably wait another 3 or 4 years (then I will be 34 years), but I have to discuss this with my endo, I would like to know if I have this possibility in the future. I still have the feeling as if I am pregnant, it probably takes time before that goes away. I will pray for you, too. I am now going to read your story in the archives. Thank you for your support! > Hi - > > Many thoughts and prayers are with you today.
