Asking for prayers

All, I wanted to let everyone know about two of our friends and

families that need your prayers during a very difficult time.

Tumlin ( Beth's daughter ) is in the hospital here in

Atlanta. She was doing not doing well over the weekend but is

improving as I write this. She has multiple stapf infections which ,

as of yet, are slowly responding to antibiotics but are , hopefully,

responding much better now. is due to have surgery this

afternoon at 2 pm to surgically replace her G-tube which is one of

the focal points of the staph infection. I spoke with Beth just a

little while ago and actually spoke to via speaker phone.

Beth said a HUGE smile came upon 's face when I sent love and

prayers . Beth asked that I ask all of you to please continue to

send your prayers. She asked that I convey that phone calls are a

little problematic for her to receive right now because is

in isolation and Beth remains as close to her room as possible while

trying not to miss the doctor.

The other family is the Pollard's. Pollard is the President-

Elect of The Arc of Georgia and her daughter , is very ill

and has to be put back on the ventilator this morning. She is on

heavy meds to restrict the seizure activity as this has been most

problematic . Please send your prayers to this family in Carrollton

as well .

I will update on both families as soon as I can, Bowen

asking for prayers

Hi,

I'm asking for prayers for my 5 month old foster daughter.

We took her to the Dr. on Tuesday for about the 10th time with concerns about

her head size... but this time she also had other symptoms so I could push for a

check for hydrocephalus.

They sent us to the hospital for a CTscan and it showed the hydro was caused

by a brain tumor.

The babies head is 13 cm.. on Wednesday they went in and removed a tumor that

is 10 cm. It is cancerous. Her options for treatment are limited, but there

are some that they are going to try, once they get all tests back. She is also

showing signs of possible seizure activity, which is not surprising for several

reasons. At this point she is still heavily sedated for pain, and on a

ventilator. Please pray that she is as pain free as she can be.

We were fortunate that the birthmother gave us permission to have her baptized

and we did that yesterday.

Please pray for Shayla Rae.

Sister isn't extended family, she is direct relation. Extended family is the annoying cousins twice removed who lives 3 states away.

Irony is incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events

and the normal or expected result.

I'm not sure what you mean when ask if my request for compassion

towards, and prayers for, those who may have friends and family in

Minneapolis revealed an 'irony of life.'

Are you saying that because Tom doesn't answer the phone in the middle

of the night thereby avoiding wakes and funerals is somehow undeserving

of compassion when his sister may be dead because of the tragedy in

Minneapolis yesterday? I hardly see hwo the two are connected other

than a 'death' reference.

Now that is a loaded comment.

What point was He trying to make? That attention needs to be paid to infrastructure?

Perhaps an inference that we need to take care of the physical and moral infrastructure of the country? Of ourselves?

Perhaps is was something for everyone to take their own lessons from, if they do a little introspection, as often happens after a disaster?

I recall a passage in the Bible where some workmen were building and aqueduct and were killed when a building collapsed on them. Jesus was asked what they had done wrong to deserve such a fate. Jesus answered that they had done no more or less wrong than anyone else, that the lesson should be that we don't know what the future holds and should live our lives well because we never know when it may be ended and we will be called to account for our lives.

I think this was the case here. The bridge was neglected and dangerous. This was known for two years or so but nothing of substance was done about it. So, naturally, it collapsed and people died. What follows can either be a time of correcting systemic mistakes, or it can be forgotten as soon as the cameras turn away. It will be up to us, well mainly the people in that area and state, to decide.

I looked it up. " Irony may also arise from a discordance between acts

and results, especially if it is striking, and seen by an outside

audience. Irony is understood as an aesthetic evaluation by an

audience, which relies on a sharp discordance between the real and

the ideal, and which is variously applied to texts, speech, events,

acts, and even fashion. All the different senses of irony revolve

around the perceived notion of an incongruity, or a gap, between an

understanding of reality, or expectation of a reality, and what

actually happens.

There are different kinds of irony. For example:

Tragic (or dramatic) irony occurs when a character on stage or in a

story is ignorant, but the audience watching knows his or her

eventual fate, as in Shakespeare's play Romeo and t.

Socratic irony takes place when someone (classically a teacher)

pretends to be foolish or ignorant, to expose the ignorance of

another (and the teaching-audience, but not the student-victim,

realizes the teacher's plot).

Cosmic irony is when a higher being or force interferes in a

character's life, creating ironic settings. "

Tom says: I hate my extended family, so if the phone rings in the

of funerals and wakes when you don't bother to find out whether or

To me it sounds as 'cosmic irony' that fast after he write that,

something like the bridge can happen to his sister.

In a way. There are only three people in this world I care enough

about to receive late calls about, my sister, my girlfreind, and her

son. Naturally yesterday's accident could have affected my sister.

Maybe God wrecked that bridge and killed all those people to prove a

A SISTER is not EXTENDED FAMILY ... she is an integral part of the

FAMILY OF ORIGIN. Therefore, there is no irony, cosmic or otherwise.

I do not know, but capitals in writing are rude here in Belgium. It is

like shouting or yelling.

I explained, but I didnot think that it is something wrong to explain.

I will pray for you.

It doesn't surprise me, . I am always impressed with the

accurate information you provide to the forums as well as the manner in

which you discuss topics. And even if you hadn't taken French in high

school, I get the impression that you know quite a bit about how

language is created and you would be more than able to decipher another

language given the time to do so. :-)
