Guest guest
Dear Eddie and Group, I was diagnosed with ocular rosacea after 12 months of suffering and 4 different eye specialists...I was diagnosed in August after my face broke out with a " rash " which was then diagnosed as rosacea...my dermatologist put me on metrogel, clindocin T pads and antibiotics and my eyes cleared up so I forgot about them..when I came off the antibiotics (my face cleared completely) my eyes stayed fine for about a month and then became unbearable...dry...burning...bright red...no tears at all..so severely photophobic that I had to wear sunglasses in my house..I went to another eye specialist who told me that the ocular rosacea was worse..however..he told me there was no treatment and that I should just soak them with hot water..do lid scrubs and put in artificial tears...by then I could no longer drive during the day my eyesight had gotten so bad..I went back to my dermatologist who could not believe that the eye doctor had not prescribed anything else..my dermatologist put me on monodox..100mg once a day taken with an acidopholous pill..it took 3 weeks and like magic..my eyes were completely normal..I have been on the antibiotics now for 2 months and I will stay on it for about another 2 months..then he will slowly taper me off and see if I have another flare-up..I could stay on this dose for 100 years and be fine..no opthomologist that saw me correctly diagnosed me until I got the " rash " and no opthomologist gave me any help at all..it was my dermatologist who was the one who took immediate action..if you can take antibiotics..I would suggest you try..all the ointments they gave me in the beginning for the blepharitis and the baby shampoo that I used for the scrubs made my eyes much, much worse.. regards and I hope you feel better, Debbie visit to ophth./help! > > ----------------------------------------------------------------- > Please read the list highlights thoroughly before posting to the whole group.
