Oh I love the sound of a cammed up car.. always have.. guess it's the

" live dangerously girl " part of me.. and Earl's never been, even as a

newborn, overly gun shy of those kinds of noises.. I do believe it's

cause I was runnin' round the race track while I was pregnant with him..

I was the pit crew.. LOL.. There was only like a year that I couldn't go

to the track and take him.. it was shortly after he learned to walk.. We

took the playpen, set it up at the end of the car trailer.. when Bill

came back from a run, I'd dump Earl in the playpen and start to cool the

car, then get it ready for the next run.. worked for maybe 1 trip.. then

we were at the back of the car filling the fuel pod... and there comes

Earl toddling down the side of the car to the back where we were.. that

ended his trips to the track until he got just a bit taller.. Couldn't

have the little squirt wandering out in front of a car come through the

pits with one of those hood scoops where he wouldn't be seen..

We came from Connecticut to Eldora, West Virginia to race one year for

some special meet.. and I had uniforms put together for all of us..

black pants, white golf shirts.. but on each shirt I sat down and drew a

picture of the car, then used the liquid embroidery on each of them.. so

all our shirts matched.. Bill's hat (black with white lettering..

everything keeping with the color of the car) had " Driver " on it.. Bud's

hat (my oldest son) had " Crew Chief " on it.. and mine of course had

" Crew " .. Earl's on the other hand.. had " Future Driver " on it.. and he

kept us to that promise for sure.. LOL.. We won an award.. for the

longest distance traveled.. they wanted to give us the Best Appearing

Crew award.. but couldn't give us two awards and every other team was

local.. so we got the distance one.. Have pictures of it somewhere.. but

I don't have custody of those pictures.. unfortunately..

Oh.. the smell of Cam2 and rubber burning.. I still love it.. and I miss

it.. But like I said.. maybe this coming summer, now that I've got the

chair.. and I will sneak up to the track and watch.. Don't wanna

get Earl's dad all anxious with my being there with .. and I

couldn't go with them alone because they'd have both been anxious about

what was happening with me.. and that's not fair to either..

I didn't know there was a track up your way.. Maybe I did.. but I don't

think we ever took the car.. is it quarter mile or eighth mile?

oh i love it too, we have quarter mile if i rem right, herb is a racer from way back, he raced dirt track for a long time, car was mellow yellow #88 , then he got in the pull truck 4x4 then the big ones ( now he just works on them ) and now he is into the tractor pulling, we pull ford...truck was always mopar. we go to the big mopar meet . i forget the place all i rem is it is hot there. i never did this before ( dad was army ) but i am in it now ( lol) we have tops too, very nice blue we are the brant's pulling team...on the back ford on the front ...he does very good. he use to pull the trucks all over but not ow. the money part is way out there. you have to keep adding to it if you want to play....( your son can yes to that )so we just pull around here.. herb works on jimmy barons big big truck ( i got to ride in it omg ) . will you stay warm, tell

I will tell him.. thank you.. you helped me feel proud today... Got to

brag about my kiddo... enlightened my mood quite a bit..

I did have two very wonderful boys.. only I didn't get to see that at

home.. had to ask people if they were sure we were talking about the

same two.. LOL

You keep warm too.. we're expecting another 2 to 4 inches down here..

which means you're going to get buried in white stuff up there!..
