Guest guest
Kishline went to treatment, voluntarily I believe, after her arrest, and subsequently pleaded guilty. She is serving four years, which is the maximum she can apparently receive under Washington law for a first offense and a guilty plea. It would be very hard to be Audrey Kishline. " Even those of you who have seen Waterworld may not have noticed that the supertanker in waterworld was the Exxon Valdez. Also there was a short clip where Dennis Hopper of the Smokers pays tribute to Joe Hazelwood; there is a picture of Joe on a wall on the ship. Hazelwood, as most of you will recall, supposedly had only three drinks before grounding the Exxon Valdez on a hard reef in the pristine waters of Alaska's Prince 's Sound in the late 1980's. This resulted in the most damaging oil spill in history. I'm still working two jobs, but my day work is winding down with the finalizing of our last two cement ponds of the season coming this week. Then I'll have lots of computer time for the next month or so and I have not changed my plans for Coercion Watch. With the computer time I have had recently I have been getting some things off my chest on the Coast Guard Point-CounterPoint forum at military.com, and have not been able to keep up with all the messages at 12sf. Hope this link takes, as yahoo has not accepted long links well, but here was my last thread over at military.com-- " Joe Hazelwood and Alcoholics Anonymous " http://forums.military.com/1/OpenTopic?q=Y & a=tpc & s=78919038 & f=41519780 2 & m=7581921402 I also had three other related threads over there. Guest guest
Anyway, had the link worked it would have taken you directly to the initial post. Here it is: The following is taken from the May 11, 1994 edition of the Anchorage Daily News. It's no wonder the Coast Guard is hell-bent on sending people to AA, considering how well it " works " . And to think I have been accused of " not listening " . " ANCHORAGE- For the first time since he radioed that the Exxon Valdez had " fetched up hard aground " on Bligh Reef five years ago, Capt. Joe Hazelwood on Tuesday began his public reckoning of his role in the disaster and of his bouts with alcohol. Speaking as one of the first witnesses called by the attorneys suing him and Exxon in U.S. District Court, Hazelwood described the two-faced life he led during the years leading up to the spill: drinking at sea, a member of Alcoholics Anonymous at home. Guest guest
Never heard of Audrey Kishline. Who is she? She is founder of Moderation Management, a support group for those who choose attempting to moderate their use of alcohol over abstinence. About a year ago she drove incredibly drunk, and killed a man and his 12-year-old daughter. She is currently in prison. --Mona--
