But be careful. According to research undertaken by the Electromagnetic Academy based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, cell phones disrupt sleep patterns, especially the light phases of sleep. Mobile phone radiation adversely affects the phases of sleep important for repairing the body and mind after the daily routine. Also, headaches were more prevalent in people exposed to cell phones during their sleep. The research concerning cell phones and sleep patterns involved 71 men and women between the ages of 18 and 45. They were exposed to cell phone radiation as they fell asleep. This is a part of an ongoing controversy regarding cell phones and health. The FDA and FCC are concerned with these issues and to that end have posted a Web site to try and answer consumer questions. Cell phones have been blamed for a variety of illnesses including cancer and brain deterioration. Visit "Cell Phone Facts," the web site the FDA built to help answer customer questions. With cell phones becoming more popular all the time, potential hazards will increase. The FDA recommends further research, especially in the long-term use of mobile phones. So far, the majority of research has been into the dangers of short-term usage. Science Daily reports on one of the largest studies into the dangers of short-term health effects. Symptoms reported are anxiety, tension and tiredness. The researchers found no difference between people who claimed to be sensitive to cell phone radiation and those who did not. The UK company Exradia manufacturers the first device proven to neutralize potentially dangerous mobile phone radiation. The Exradia AngelTM is a replacement battery containing a chip and coil that actively superimposes a random noise field over the radio waves emitted by the cellular antenna. The Angel costs £24.99 and is available for 80% of the popular mobile phones available today from Nokia, Motorola, Sony sson, LG and Samsung. The Exradia has been tested by six leading universities in America including Columbia University. Other countries that have advised against excessive use of cell phones include France, Sweden, the UK, Israel and India.
