Guest guest
It seems like you could hire a paraprofessional who is experienced, a college student studying special ed or autism, even another parent of a child with autism could be one. As for respite, if you go through a respite company or organization you just may have to interview lots of people until the find a match. The ad in craigslist is a good idea as is posting on a college bulletin board. Guest guest
Absolutely check into Respit care…it has been a wonderful resource for us. Also, it might be helpful to check with the local colleges in the psychology departments. If you connect with a professor, they might offer credit in exchange for assistance and you would be getting students with a vested interest. Guest guest
You could post an ad with the Broward Community College student employment office. Perhaps one of their psych. or nursing students would be interested in this type of job. If you are in Boca, F.A.U., or Lynn U. might have the same type of office. If a high school student would work as a helper, Nova High School in Davie posts open job lists for their students. You could specify that you prefer a Senior. Some of the kids at the school already have participated in the Buddies program or taken seminars on autism.
