______________________________________________________ Autism Research Institute Awards Research Grant to French Nobel Prize Winner, Prof. Luc Montagnier The Autism Research Institute recently awarded a research grant to scientist Prof. Luc Montagnier to study bacterial DNA in autism. Prof. Montagnier won a Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2008. He is best known for his 1983 discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). In December of last year, ARI Director Dr. Steve Edelson met with Prof. Montagnier in Paris to learn about his pilot findings and to discuss research funding. Dr. Edelson recently stated,

“Given the caliber of Montagnier’s work, I truly hope that he will provide us with further insight into the medical problems associated with autism.†Note: while visiting Paris, Drs. Edelson and Paradiz met with a judge from the European Union to discuss autism in relation to human discrimination problems in France. Unfortunately, the French government’s "treatment of choice" is psychoanalysis. ______________________________________________________ Touchy Subject Explained on ARI Videos How do you explain items relating to sex to your sons and daughters? These easy-to-understand male and female sexuality videos can be found on ARI's website. ______________________________________________________ Spotlight on ARI Staff: Morgali Morgali, known as Anton, first became involved with ARI when he produced a documentary on autism in 2005. This documentary won the Golden Award at the Houston International Film festival. During the production of this film, Anton found himself helping ARI director Steve Edelson with technical items. This led to about 2 years of

volunteering at the ARI/DAN! conferences. He finally came on board as staff with an official title of executive producer for ARI Media. What this really means is that Anton manages of all the audio and visual (AV) needs for ARI/DAN! conferences. Among other things, this means taking care of the logistics, equipment, screens, sound, and projection that presenters need. Making everything run smoothly is not an easy task, and Anton is level headed, always calm, never flustered, diplomatic, and extremely helpful to all even in the craziest of situations. Before Anton came on board, AV transitions between speakers were challenging, and he made everything run smoothly. Other “hats†he wears for ARI include prototype hardware developer, mechanic, editor, projectionist, truck driver, logistics coordinator, chief engineer, camera operator, archivist, warehouse manager, tech support and sound designer. Anton attended the UCLA School of film and currently

resides in Oregon.
