Guest guest
I have read women on the pro-implant boards telling people they are part of those studies. Should I do a post there and ask who is in these studies, and find out what kind of follow-up is being done?I thought of something this morning. If people ask doctors, "Do you have any patients whose breast implants caused them illness?" and they say "No." then we're asking the wrong question. We need to ask doctors, "Do you have any patients who believe their breast implants have cause them illness?" or "Do you have any patients who have reported additional illness after getting breast implants?" That way, we take out what the doctor believes. (in the first question, if the doctor doesn't believe implants cause illness, he'll automatically answer no) So we need to phrase our questions right. That said, has anyone on this board reported implant illness/ symptoms/ etc. to their implanting surgeons and been dismissed by them? Because what if we could then find another woman on this board, in the same geographical area, go to that surgeon for a breast implant consult and ask the second two questions above. Then we'd know if these surgeons were flat out lying, or answering the questions according to their own beliefs. The second two questions don't leave room for what the PS believes- just facts of "has anyone reported this to you or not?" If they would lie in that situation, and someone on this board has evidence of having reported the problem to him/her, could we do something with that? Show someone that PSs are keeping information from new patients?Just a thought. I think too much on the weekends. JT3 Bews Rewind to 1992: FDA bans silicone breast implants "USA Today reported in 2006, "The twin approvals came with conditions, including a requirement that the companies complete 10-year studies on women who have already received the implants to study leaks, as well as begin new decade-long studies of the safety of the devices in 40,000 women." I wonder if anyone knows of ANYONE who is part of any of these studies? http://www.ky3. com/news/ local/13042147. html Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
I reported my implant illness to my implanting surgeon, and he basically tried to shoot down everything I said. I took him Lynda Roth's answers to all my questions, and he laughed at the answers. So, I definitely told my surgeon. I do remember asking him at the consultation for implants if anyone removed their implants for any reason. His answer was that they removed them " because they didn't like them. " I was like, " HUH?? " You're right though, we need to ask the question correctly. Patty > > I have read women on the pro-implant boards telling people they are part of those studies. Guest guest
The way a question is asked is very important . . . One of our former members, Lana, has a knack for asking questions in such a way that elicits answers that blows me away. . . Once she got one answer, she had another question ready and waiting . . . the doctors were led down a slippery silicone slope! She found all kinds of support for her and her kids problems . . . However, three of the four doctors who supported her met an untimely death . . . The fourth was no threat! Makes one wonder!
