Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I hope you had a good day with low stress. My doctor is actually both a Naturopath and a MD! Strange, huh? He likes to treat natural but knows there are times when medicine is needed. Anyhow, he was the one that recommened the food panel. He thinks if I can get the inflammation in my body lower, I will feel better. He feels like each of us have things which can effect our auto-immune but once the body hits a certain threshold, health is affected. He is trying to get my body below that threshold again and says diet is key. If I am eating things that my body disagrees with, it is just one more thing it is fighting - or one more stresser. The only thing that concerned me is that he said the auto-immune has a memory. So, even though my implants are gone - it doesn't mean my auto-immune will go back to normal. He does think the implants caused my autoimmune to turn on itself though, but didn't give hope that I could fix it. So, instead of fixing - he is trying to take away things that are causing me issues. Wow, that was wordy. You might want to ask your ND about the testing. Insurance wouldn't pay for mine - another charge on the credit cards due to implant illness (blah). Love, Lynn > > > > Hi ladies, > > > > Happy Valentine's Day!! Guest guest
CLynn- This is great news! I must have missed a lot because I didn't even know you were going to see a ND! That's great that you found out you don't have Lupus! Your ND sounds very knowledgeable and that's great that he took the time to look into your history and talk to your rhuemy. Interesting how he said he has seen other women with CTD with implants. Weird when you start finding out that not all docs are clueless about this, it's just not discussed a lot! I'm sure it will all eventually come out though! Your food panel findings sound very interesting. I'm sure you will start feeling a lot better once you eliminate the foods that you are sensitive to. I probably need to do a food panel one of these days, I haven't had one since I was kid and I was sensitive to about 38 of the 40 things they tested me for, so it wouldn't surprise me to find out I am still sensitive to certain foods. Congrats on finding a great ND! Sounds like you are on your way now girl! Woo Hoo! Love ya, Krista > > Hi ladies, > > Happy Valentine's Day!! Guest guest
Hi Krista, I have been seeing the ND/MD for awhile now. I found him while searching for a doctor who would prescribe armour thyroid - as most won't. Patty had sent me the link. It has been a blessing because he is also an MD and so insurance will pay for all of my visits. Insurance didn't pay for the food panel or the stool though. Most NDs I have called won't take insurance and require payment upfront. I hope this new diet will help. I am sick of being sick. I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day. Guest guest
Lynn - I have not read the responses to this post by some of the other women BUT please be careful taking Cipro (antibiotic). This is what my PS put me on after my implant surgery and this is what I truely believe mseed up my gut the way it did. Within a few weeks of finishing 10 days of this antibiotic, I started having problems.....in my opinion...this is the culprit. I am sure my implants did not help the situation. Please just be careful. I am not a doctor and not very knowledgable when it comes to alot of this but I do KNOW that cipro is a powerful antibiotic. If this is what he feels you need then by all means, go with it but just make sure he gives you all the info you need to feel comfortable. It may be that by taking probotics afterwards, you can control any problems that the antibiotic may cause. Just my opinion. How are you feeling today??? I have my first round of dentist appointments today and my mouth is pretty darn sore. I hate the thought of going back ina month or so to have more work done but I gotta do what I gotta do I just tell myself that it will be worth it in the end. Much Love, Beth Long post.... Test Results from Food Panel & Stool Tests Hi ladies, Happy Valentine's Day!! Guest guest
Hi Beth, I am sorry to hear you had to go to the dentist on Valentine's day. Darn it! My mouth is still in a lot of pain from the tooth that was removed, I am praying it is healing okay. You are right, we have to do what we have to do to get better! Much of it kind of sucks Oh, you and I are on the opposite sides of the bowel issues. I can not go number 2!! Hence the hemrrhoids. I haven't went number 2 since last Saturday. I don't wish to have what you have but I am wondering if this bacteria I have in my stool is what is causing the constipation? My doc is very natropathic but he said that the antibiotic is a must if I want to kill the bacteria in the stool. The strain is resistant to Amoxacillian (SP?), Ampicillin and Cephalothin. The only antibiotics that can kill it is Cipro, Tetracycline and Sulfa. I can't do the sulfa with my thyroid and tetracycline makes me sick to my stomach. So? I have to pray and hope I can tolerate the Cirpo. Thank you for the heads up though. Oh and YES, he said I need to keep up on the probiotics for a long long time. Hugs, CLynn > > Lynn - I have not read the responses to this post by some of the other women BUT please be careful taking Cipro (antibiotic). Guest guest
Lynn, I thought the same as Beth when I read you were going to take Cipro. I came across a forum on people who have had horrendous side effects and I thought that's where my dizziness, visual disturbances, buzzing in the ear, brain fog, etc. came from (mine's more mercury-related though). Lots of people get severe diarrhea to the point they can't leave the house for months after taking Cipro. In fact, Dr. Kolb said she didn't want me on it long because of the side effects so I was only on it for 3 days. I'm sure there are alternatives like what your doc suggested. Guest guest
Lynn - The first ND I went to also said that Cipro is a great antibiotic when it is needed. He also said Flagyl was good which is what I took for a long time to try to fix my imbalance before I found this group. I am sure if you MD/ND says you need it then you will be fine. I just get nervous about Cipro since it seems to have messed me up so bad. However, you are right, we do have opposite problems and this may be just what you need. It sounds like he is a good doctor who understands what you need to do for test and treatments. I wish I had someone like that close to me so I could go see them. Hang in there with the tooth. I am sure it will be better soon. I know having pain in the mouth can be awful but in the long run, it will be worth it. Much Love, Beth Long post.... Guest guest
Beth, Did you tell your doctor about your reaction to the Cipro. I read on the insert that if you develop severe diarrhea during treatment or within several months after treatment, check with your doctor or pharmacist RIGHT AWAY. DO NOT treat it with non-prescription over- the-counter medicines. Did you tell your pharmacist or doctor? If yes, what did they say? Also, did you have bowel issues before explant? How much Cipro did you take? He is asking me to take 1 a day for 10 days. Thanks, Lynn > > Lynn - by the way - Yeppie for no lupus!!!! Guest guest
Beth, I will still ask my doctor. Thanks for the advice, I read up on the drug and it did scare me. This doctor is a good 1/2 hour from me. I live in such a small town that I have to go to the bigger cities. I had to drive over an hour for the dentist! It sounds like you may have it even worse. It is such a chore to get healthy Love, Lynn > > > > Lynn - I have not read the responses to this post by some of the > other women BUT please be careful taking Cipro (antibiotic) . Guest guest
Gosh, you two are scaring me. I will let him know my thoughts. The other two drugs don't agree with me either. I get super sick with tetracycline (vomit sick) and sulfa isn't good for me either. Hum, darn it. Thanks for the post. Better to be well informed. Guest guest
Lynn - ok, yes I did tell me PS office right away. The only person I talked to was the receptionist and she said it had to be full blown diarrhea. At that point, it was just loose and more often. I did have the tummy pains but over the summer, it progressed into full blown diarrhea. I just happened to call before the office opened and my PS answered the phone. She was immediately concerned and that is when all this started. After I called the first time and talked to the receptionist and she assured me it was not from the cipro because it was not full blown diarrhea, I put it in the bak of my mind and tried to ignore it that it would go away. Also, I took 1 pill every 12 hrs for 10 days after surgery. I never tried to treat my diarrhea with over the counter medicines. It did not get bad until about 5-6 months after implant surgery. But I remember 2 months after surgerymy tummy burned badly and my hubby and I went to the beach for a long weekend and I was scared to eat out because I always had to go to the bathrrom right away. Also, (sorry if this is TMI) it would irritate my butt after I would go to the bathroom. It would burn and itch like crazy. The itching adn burning started right after surgery...like within 2 weeks. I am not a person that likes to go to the doctor so whe it happened and I made the first phone call, I just tried to ignore it and hoped it would go away. BIG MISTAKE....it got out of control....which leads me to where i am now. Hope ths answers your question. I jsut read your first post and as soon as I saw "CIPRO", I got worried for you. But you need to do what you feel is best for you!!!!! Much Love, Beth Long post.... Test Results from Food Panel & Stool Tests> > Hi ladies, > > Happy Valentine's Day!! Guest guest
Wow LYNN, that is some list of foods you are intolerant of! I'm sorry to hear it....I know it's such a bummer to realize you have to stop eating some things you love. Gluten is a big one. It just confirms what we've said on our group so much...I think gluten intolerance is a HUGE issue for many women and it is really neglected. I am guilty...it is so hard to give up the wheat products and foods that have bread when everyone else gets to eat them. It's been a struggle for me. It sounds like you've got some GREAT info to work with now! That's awesome! I am happy for you! You'll be feeling better sooner than you think when you stay faithful to a diet free from those things you are allergic to.
