Guest guest
Amy, Welome! . . . I'm so glad you found us before you had your implants replaced! You're very fortunate your insurance covers explant! When a doctor tells you that you'll look deformed, he's testifying about his/her own skills. . . Find another surgeon! . . . This attitude stinks! Check the photos on shutterfly to see what some of our ladies look like post-implants! You'll have to admit they look pretty good! Guest guest
Amy, Some of the ladies are still posting regularly . . . Let's ask them. A lot depends on how elastic your skin is . . . As one older, they lose elasticity. A good surgeon should be able to tell you if you'll actually need a mastopexy or not. Dr. Huang passes on mastopexy's when she doesn't think they are needed. Guest guest
Hi Amy- I just had my explant 2 months ago and I just had explant (with capsulectomy,) no lift (mastopexy) or anything else. I am VERY happy with the results, I have no extra skin, wrinkling or sagging at all! I was so worried about that going into the surgery. If your surgeon isn't comfortable (and it sounds like he's not from what you've said) in saying that you will look fabulous after explant then I'd definitely go to a different surgeon. There isn't any reason at all that you shouldn't be happy with your breasts after explant if you go to the right surgeon. Make sure and check out the links on the left side, you will find a list of recommended surgeons for proper explant. If you are really interested in seeing more pictures, check out the explantation website (explantation.com.) There are lots of stories and photos there and if you go on the forum and post for a little bit, you can ask Jeena for photo privileges and she can give you ask to the photo folder where there are even more photos! Good luck and let me know if you would like to ask me any questions! ~Krista --- In , " Amy Weaver " <amy-weaver4@...> wrote: > > I went to the ps that my insurance covers and he said that if I > didn't get implants put back in that I would be deformed. Guest guest
Oh PLEEEEEZEEEE! These stupid doctors...I can tell you FOR SURE that you will not be deformed if you have the implants taken out and not replaced. We have dozens and dozens--no, hundreds of women--who can tell you that they are thrilled with their explant results. Some even say that they look better after explant than before implant. That's how good some of these explanting surgeons are. Yes, a mastopexy is needed sometimes, but not all. I can also tell you that if a doctor is going to say this to you, then RUN AWAY from him and as you are going, tell him " thanks for being honest about YOUR SKILLS--I definitely don't want to have someone incompetent doing my explant! " We can help you find someone to do it right. You can see our pictures if you go to http://.shutterfly.com/action/ and put in the password: implants Do not use this surgeon. You will want this done right in order to get better. That means a total capsulectomy at the very least. Keep talking to us...you are in the right place. We've had many women in serious financial straits, but you'll get through it. Women find a way to get this paid for, whether they have insurance or not. Guest guest
Thank you! I'm going to try to find another doctor that takes my insurance since they have already approved payment. Did your ps make in incision on the nipples or below the breast? This ps said that he had not make an incision below the breast but I've heard that it can be done the other way with little scarring noticeable. Guest guest
Your plastic surgeon is describing his surgical ability, not how you will look. Many women here will tell you that you will look just fine if you have the right doctor remove your implants. What did your doctor quote you for a mastopexy? I know in Denver, implant removal is about $6000. And the doctor works very hard to make you look good. Putting in silicone implants would probably be the biggest mistake of your life, as soon you would be paying again for removal. And without any insurance coverage. You will hear from women on this site as to how they looked after removal without new implants. Most feel it was the best decision they could ever have made. Guest guest
Amy . . . The question really isn't how the mastopexy would look, but if he would take your implants out properly. We've found that doctors with his attitude usually don't. They need to be removed "en bloc" . . That is, the capsules removed with the implants still inside to avoid spilling contaminanted fluids into the chest cavity. . . . That's the main reason we have a recommended surgeon list! . . . . If implants aren't removed properly a woman may remain ill and require further surgery to remove the capsules. Hugs, Rogene

Guest guest
Amy, Your surgeon will decide which type of incision is right for you . . . Not everyone gets the same incision.. . even from the best docs. You may want to discuss the incision types so you understand why the surgeon does the one he/she does. Guest guest
Amy, Ouch, that is so pricey. You can almost have the explant and everything for that. Check our list of doctors and see if you can find one in your area who does the procedure properly.
