Guest guest
There would be class action suits in a minute - IF attornies would take the cases! The Feds, specifically the Republican party, since they gained control of Congress, has put laws in place that make pursuing class action cases against corporations extremely difficult. Even if an attorney can get a class action into play, cases must go through federal (presidentally appointed) judges, creating a bottleneck that will delay cases for many years. The plaintiff must provide proof that the product harmed them to a level that is virtually impossible for even the most educated, experienced scientists. . . The manufacturer's don't have to. The form you signed, called "Informed Consent" when you received your implants, was intended to fully inform the patient of potential problems. Instead potential problems are minimized and the doctors and manufacturer's are relieved of all liability while the patient accepts responsibility for the decision. It amounts to legalizing assault and murder! See the movie "Two Voices" . . The story of Sybil Goldrich in her struggle against the manufacturer's. You should be able to find it on DVD. She is one of the women behind the blog www.beautyandthebreast.org. Please visit the blog and add your comments! They have some beautiful cards to pass out. I was thrilled when the doctor and nurses wanted cards when I was recently hospitalized. We must speak out! This is the only way anything is going to change. I wish things were different . . . but, at this time, this is the way it is! I'd suggest contacting your Congressman/woman to find out how much they've done to help or hinder this situation, then vote accordingly when they run for office again. Rogene Why Not A Class Action Law Suit??? If there are so many of us with the same symptom, do to breast implants, and there is proof with relief after ex-plant, then where are the Law Suits?I say lets do it! Others did it with the silicon leaks.

Guest guest
Rosemary, We've tried working from the top down. . The fact is, money talks and sick women have very little money! They couldn't ask for better victims . . . First of all, once women get sick, they seldom communicate with clarity, they can't handle the stress or understand what's going on . . . and are frequently ashamed of making the implant mistake - As if they should be ashamed of believing the so-called "experts"! We've been reaching out to the media for many years . . . Occasionally we find a sympathetic ear. . . I fear they have tired of hearing about our problems! . . . But, don't let that stop anyone! . . . Keep looking for a way to get the word out . . . Tell your family, friends, neighbors, local churches, women's groups, health care professionals, and schools. . . If you can get in to speak at a high school or college health class, you will have started a ripple that will never end! Contact your local newspaper . . . Start a local support group. Call into radio talk shows when an appropriate show on health care is broadcast. CSpan has talk shows every morning where, occasionally, bringing up the implant issue would be appropriate. Dede has compiled a list of contacts . . . The plan is to select a day as Breast Implant Survivor's Day and send everyone a barrage of messages about their breast implant experience. . . No day has been designated yet, but we'll get there. Spreading the message from person to person is slow . . . but, we are getting there. You can get glimpses of the effect is some articles that actually mention the anti-implant people! Several of our ladies are in the process of setting up websites to educate the public . . . As long as the plastic surgeons can sponsor pro-implant sites disguised as "implant support" websites, there will never be enough! There are many occasions when advertisements for breast implants are published as thinly veiled news articles. . . Comment on these articles whenever possible. Contact the reporter and let your feelings be known. Some of these reporters really do not know what's going on! One of the biggest hidden tragedies is what breast implants are doing to the offspring of implanted women. Doctors do not ask mothers if they, or their grandmothers had implants! (Yes, there's some indication of third-generation effects) . . . The kids had no choice! . . . There have been no significant studies on sick children to determine what's going on! . . . Criminal! . . . But I'm rambling! . . . I could go on all day! Rogene

Guest guest
Yes, there are many of us. But that is not the issue. The issue is getting people to BELIEVE us, but even more important than that is getting people to put compassion, social responsibility, and ethics AHEAD of making money and protecting their reputation. You see, we have contacted Oprah, other talk show hosts, all the news shows and reporters and people who COULD do something, but there seems to be this little problem called " political correctness " and it is just not politically correct to say that implants make women sick. It also would hit the pockets of too many people if implants were implicated in causing illness. Do you know how many billions of dollars it would take to satisfy the millions of women who have become sick from implants? And now many billions of dollars would be lost in implant sales and doctors fees, how many more billions of dollars would be lost down the line from all of the sales associated with anything to do with implants? And you realize that all that lost money also means lost revenue taxes and oh, what about all those investments in the stock market? Do you see how much financial clout is tied up in making sure the studies show implants do not cause illness? You see, it is just not about doing what is right. It is about doing what is best for those with financial interests and making sure they don't lose, because the losses would be so great!!! We can't have that! It always, always, always about the money. And we are NOT talking about the sick women who deserve it. The lawyers also do not like to lose,a nd the manufacturer's have learned their way around in court. A class action law suit is needed, it is warranted with all of the sick women that have been harmed, but it is NEVER going to happen for the reasons stated above. Patty > > Thamks Rogene. Guest guest
And can I just put my two cents' worth in here and say that the best way people with no money can win is by getting the word out so others don't give the ones in power more money as well? If the word is out, then more sensible decisions will be made by other women, and eventually, just maybe, the tables will begin to turn. I have to be hopeful; it's pretty depressing to go back to some of those pro BA sites that I went to so happily before I did this to myself and see that not only are some women seeming to do ok for years with these bags in them, they are going on to bigger sizes with silicone gel and some of them with other " treatments " at the same time! I have to believe that certain of them aren't having to pay for it themselves, or are getting " help " from certain interests. It's very, very depressing to see this, but we can do what we can do, and the rest is up to someone way bigger than them! Because our politicians are bought an paid for . . . We need to throw the bums out and bring in Congressmen and women who represent the people, rather than industry! . . Of course, those candidates are not going to have much money to run for office! . . and are unlikely to get elected! Rogene
