Individuals participating in this event must know how to swim and feel comfortable in the water and also possess enough upper body strength to paddle a surfboard on flat water. Many of our surfing participants have tried Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP) and kayaking at our surfing events and really enjoy it. It is not difficult and can be a lot of fun.

More about this event.

Stand Up Paddleboards will be supplied by Hang Loose Surf School and ARK Paddleboards. We will rent the kayaks from Toby’s Concessions. Participants will have instruction and a guided tour of the area by instructors from Hang Loose and ARK paddleboards. Paddleboarding will last about 1 hour and individuals may kayak either before or after they have had a turn paddleboarding. Tours will begin at 8:30 AM, 9:30, and 10:30. You will be assigned to one of the paddleboarding times. We ask that you be ready to go at your time.

Everyone, moms and dads included, must wear a PFD while paddleboarding and kayaking. You can bring your own PFD if you would prefer. Your own PFD may provide a feeling of familiarity when doing a new activity or in a new environment. I recommend wearing on old t-shirt or rash guard under the PFD. The PFDs may be irritating so a t-shirt helps mitigate that.

What to bring: Here is the recommended list:

____ Closed toe shoes! These could be Crocks or old sneakers, or

some type of water shoe.

____ Shorts or a bathing suit

____ Towels. Maybe a long sleeve shirt or hoodie.

____ Old t-shirt to wear under the PFD (Personal Flotation Device)

____ hat, ____ sunglasses, ____ sunscreen, ____Lip stuff

_____water, ____ snacks, ____ sandwich, _____ sunglasses

_____towel, ____bag for wet clothes if they want to change.

____ Possible Change of clothes

____ A comfortable chair(s) ____ book or magazine ____ something to do if you have to wait a little bit.

_____ You may wish to bring something that will comfort the person when embarking on this new experience.
