PH . . .

I agree with you 100% . . . What works for you is not necessarily what works for someone else.

The trick if to figure out what works for you and to go with it. We can get really confused if we let all these "voices" dictate our program. . .

It helps to get ideas to consider from others, but it's up to us to apply them to ourselves as we see fit.

Rogene

Ph,

I know those recipes are delicious and you dont get hungry that's the best of it all. The only thing i missed was chewing. Thanks for the info on liver flushes. I am going to try it. A lot of girls had stones come out and I was wandering if I tried something different I would see that as well.

Thanks Patty,

I better do another liver flush just in case. I am still a little fatigued and my belly is swelled. Is this from coffee enemas? Or this may be my thyroid? I am getting anxious to see a doctor.

I am glad you were amused by that.LOL

Patty - I alway thought I had major gut issues because every time I eat, I have to go to the bathroom. Maybe I should be going to the bathroom that much but it is just that it is more diahhrea. As of right now, my supplements seem to be helping. I jsut hope it continues. I still have some burning sensation in my stomah but my trips running the the bathroom have slowed down.

- I feel the same way. I am very interested in learning about all of this but hesitate a little because I do not want to make myself worse off. I am very intersted in trying the liver flush. I have been explanted for 2 months and I already see some minor improvements - I just feel better about having them out i think. However, I am doing things at the pace I am comfortable with. I know when the time is right for me to start some of these programs, we have a great support system here to do them.

Sometimes, I think it is comforting knowing you are doing a detox with someone, like the liver flush or fasting.

Patty - I was thinking that is my problem - gut flora messed up from my antibiotics after both surgeries. However, I was wondering if I have a bateria infection from the bad bacteria taking over, should the digestive enzymes and probotics take care of that in time or do I need to do something else? Or is bateria infection and imbalanced gut flora the same thing?? Just that a ND treats it with enzymes and probotics and my GI treats it with Falgyl (another antibiotic)????

Patty - thank you for such a good explanation on it. I will continue on my probotics and enzymes. I am taking 2 different probotics - one is for my large intestines and one is for my small. I take 2 pills of each with every meal. So i get 12 probotic pills a day. I take 1 enzyme after each meal. Does this sound like I am getting enough? I KNOW I would feel almost 95% better if I could repair my gut. That is the one thing I have walked away with that is really bringing me down. I think once I see an improvement in my gut, my dizziness should get better (at least i am hoping since it is mild). Do you feel like doing a small fasting would benefit me? If I decide to try this, should I continue to take my probotics and

things? I will do whatever I need to and try to get my tummy better. I enjoy yogart but the one kind I like seems to have alot of sugar in it. Any suggestions??

Thanks again Patty - I seem to understand now exatly what is going on. I just did not know if it was better to do the supplements or get the antibiotic and wipe everything out again and follow with probotics then.

Much Love,

Beth

Re: Liver Flush/Fasting

Beth,Flagyl would never fix an imbalance in the gut flora. It would only make it worse, because anti-biotics kill everything, good and bad. Flagyl can halt a raging bacterial infection in the body that is out of control and in need of harnessing, but that would not apply to an imbalance of gut flora unless it were life threatening. The only way to really build a healthy digestive system is to provide your body with those things it needs...healthy, well functioning gut flora that is dominated by beneficial microbes. That gut flora is so important that it covers every little square millimeter surface area of our digestive tract with a thick bacterial band of mucous. These beneficial microbes produce every antibiotic under the sun, and every anti-fungal and antiviral substance known to man. This is our protection from pathogenic microbes coming from our food and drink. This thick

coating of flora also protects us not only from infections, but from carcinogenic and toxic substances. In an interesting study involving two groups of animals, one was treated with antibiotics, and one was not. Then they were given huge amounts of organic mercury in their food and water. In the animals not treated by antibiotics, (the ones with a robust and healthy amount of gut flora), only one percent of the mercury managed to get into the body from the digestive tract. In animals treated with antibiotics, which wiped out the beneficial gut flora in digestive system, about 95 percent of the mercury got into their bodies and their blood stream, bones, muscles and everywhere else. That's kind of an eye opening study, isn't it? It's not hard to imagine what happens inside a human body after a round or two of antibiotics. I'd say any antibiotic use should be followed up with a concentrated

effort to flood the body with probiotics! If you have a healthy amount of good bacteria working in your system, indigestion and malabsorption simply should not happen. Your flora will protect you, and will even nourish you, because healthy gut flora actually even synthesizes a whole host of nutrients for us.....our own little factories in our gut produce all the B vitamins, folic acid, pantothenic acid, biotin and more. The main source for Vitamin K2 is our own gut flora! If that gut flora is destroyed through antibiotic use, we will suffer from reduced nutrient absorption until that flora is restored.I could go on and on...(this information came from the latest issue of Wise Traditions, by the way), but I think the picture is clear. HEALTHY GUT FLORA MUST BE RESTORED. IT SHOULD BE A PRIORITY.You can do that by staying away from junk foods and eating lots of yogurt, kefir and raw

sauerkraut and other fermented foods, as well as taking probiotics supplements in large quantities.I wish you healing Beth!Patty>> Patty - I was thinking that is my problem - gut flora messed up from my antibiotics after both surgeries. Beth,

I just returned from WalMart . . .

There were a bunch of "new" yogurt brands . . . The sugar content varied considerably . . . from 6 grams to 17 grams. . . Some use artificial sweetner - So they're off my list. However, some look quite good. One (I don't remember which). . . Some said that no sugar was added.

There were also some probiotic smoothies. I didn't look those over carefully though.

So check the labels carefully . . . It looks like they are really getting into the need for healthy probiotic foods.

Rogene - I actually bought a new brand for my kids called YoBaby - it is organic and comes in several different flavors. It contains live probotics and only has 13g sugar compared to what we used to eat that had 32g sugar so that was a good improvement for us. It is a little more expensive but worth it to me. I am still on the hunt for good quality yogart for me that taste good too.

Can we be on probotics for too long or is it ok and safe to take them daily for as long as we want? I am thinking of getting the Garden of Life probotics for kids and using it with my oldest son but want to make sure it is safe to use for long periods of time.

Much Love,

Beth

Beth,

It should be safe to supplement with probiotics the rest of your life.

However, it may not be necessary - if you get the beneficial organisms you need from your foods - like sauerkraut, yogurt and kefir. . . You may want to take some occasionally, if then.

The idea is to have enough beneficial organisms in your digestive system to keep any fungal problems under control. . .

Have you seen the equipment for making home-made yogurt? . . . I don't have one - wish I did though.

Home made should be better than store brands. . . The taste is something you'll probably have to get used to though.

You can add your own fruits to any yogurt though.

Hugs,

Rogene
