" There are no accidents with God; only incidents. " " The worth of a soldier

is never known in times of peace. " Folks, it sounds like we all need to

" show our worth " at this time and do all we can in support of Dr. Owens and

the others who treat lyme. I believe this is not an accident, but an

incident that has happened, once again bringing more publicity to the front

lines and more attention to those forces who are against us.

This is a spcial time of year as we give thanks for all we have. . . .let's

all pray together that those whose hearts are heavy as Dr, Ownens' family

must be at this time are given true peace throughout this trial and that this

will work for the best as we all life them up.

Let's try to focus on the good that can come from all this. . . .and do all

we can to make it happen! A blessed Thanksgiving to each of you and your

families. God bless. Sue in Michigan (remember, eat some " bird at

bedtime and you will sleep better :0)

Hi Sue & All,

This thought has occurred to me on more than one occasion but, being a

" newbie " did not want to post something that could even remotely be construed

as being " flip " about this - quite the contrary.

It seems that this is the case - an incident rather than an accident. Geez -

look at the flurry of activity that's occurring as a result of this

incident...

Dr. O must be a real angel... Our thoughts & prayers are with he & his

family...

I can assure you, he is an angel. The entire family are wonderful people on

down the line to the son-in-law and step-children. You guys are wonderful

for helping him, too.

Hi , I take synthoid for my thyroid also and I’m sure that in the

future ‘llI need NSAIDS or DMARDS again to protect my joints again. After 2

sessions of radioactive iodide to destroy my thyroid, I have no choice about

the synthroid.

But I’m 30 years old and I’ve been on various NSAIDS and DMARDS for 20 years

now. I can get by without them right now and I need to pick and choose my

battles. Right now I need to protect my liver. I know in the future I will

need these drugs again, but I ask myself how long I’ll be able to tolerate

them. After last year, I just hope that I’ll be able to tolerate them at

all again. I’m doing everything I can as far as my diet and life style to

promote good health. What will I do for relief at 50, 60 or God willing 70

if I destroy my liver at 30?

At the moment, I perceive my PA as the lesser of the many evils I (we all)

face. The way my back feels though, the balance may be tilting soon.

We all need to do whatever we can to protect our bodies from this terrible

disease. My mother likes to remind me that we always treated my PA

aggressively as a kid and that she wishes I would at least take ecotrin or

something when I need it. But on the other hand, she would also like me to

move out of new york city as my immune system is still weak after being on

mtx for so long.

All I know is that what I’m doing is right for me right now. Next year…

next week even…. Who knows…

Its late, I need to hit the hay, feel good, Ari

Attitude is Everything--is a motto I use constantly in my classroom.

Congratulations Ari on your success. However, we do need medication, diet,

exercise as well. I tried for a long time to battle depression using only

prayer and attitude. I needed medication, just as I do for thyroid and

arthritis. We should use everything we can to achieve a successful life,

and attitude is a key ingredient.

I had the best day today. I just woke up and felt like the fog of fatigue

had been lifted. I have no idea what caused this...but I love it. I have

been on plaquenil for about 10 days. If this is the result--I love it! The

fatigue has been overwhelming since before Christmas.

Joe, I agree with you, especially #6. It is very difficult to look past the PA

and attend to other health needs. The rest of what you said is easier said than

done somedays but certainly should be a goal for all of us.

, some guys DO become pricks when they take T. There was a

thread awhile back - msg 6873 for example, where some guys said the

same thing you're saying. In fact, they said they became " evil Mr. T "

and were making references to the movie Fight Club. Here's a quote

from one of the messages:

> Interestingly enough Testosterone has made me more evil. Prior to

starting therapy I was very helpful, polite, a nice guy. Now, I am a

total shallow, egotistical prick. Sometimes I've even thought about

pulling the plug on T all together. But I can't. Before I respected

women, now they are just a piece of ass. Before I shunned violance.

Now, bring it on Mother F**** :) Before I'd worry about hurting a

fly. Now if I see a squirrel on the road I drive faster. :) Is this

what being a man truly about? Or was I more of a man before the T

shots, even though I was mistaken for a girl?

More than one guy agreed that T affected them this way. When I asked

them, though, they all agreed that they were much happier being

pricks than they were before taking T. Hell, if I were you I'd enjoy

it. As I've said before, I aspire to prickness. Tired of being " Mr.

Nice Guy " but alas, T doesn't affect me that way at all.

G'luck!

Jim

> Thanks Phil and ArmyGuy - I will continue to wait it out. By prick

I

> don't really mean grumps as in as much I don't take crap from

people

> any more. It's kind of nice though.

Its neither. T gives us the energy and self confidence to be more of who we

are. If you are a serial rapist or a person who runs over squirrels for

sport then T will enhance that in you. If you are inclined to start up a

business and go around and do good things for your community then it will

enhance that in you. Has nothing to do with being more or less than a man.

If you havent felt frisky for a while and start taking T maybe their could

be some thoughts and feelings that you need to learn to manage a little just

as teenagers do but there is nothing bad that can be blamed on T in the long

run. You bring that to the T.

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today!'So she did, and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today!'So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.' So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

'YEA!' she exclaimed, 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly.......andLeave the rest to God Remember:Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass..It's about learning to dance in the rain. Amen, Sandy~

Great! I love that!

Actually, that's the way I've felt ever since AIH came along. I didn't

before -- I was more like the lemon than the lemonade.
