Guest guest
Hi Cherie, I'm not sure that my adrenals have fully recovered yet! (I'm not able to completely get rid of the stress in my life). But I definitely have recovered all of my functions and feel good. I'd say it took 4 years after explant to finally feel well again, and even then I continued to improve and gain energy. The fatigue and brain fog were very unwelcome guests in my life for a long time. Even 18 months post explant I was feeling very ill. I don't want to make you feel discouraged about your recovery, but I do want you to be prepared. You may be in this for a long haul--I'd say give it 2 years Cherie. At 9 weeks post op, you may just be starting again to get some of those old symptoms back, or you could just be having a bad flare. I had a really hard time for a good year to 18 months after explant, and luckily, with our own business I could make my own schedule and work when I felt up to it, no pressure. (That was God's way of taking care of me!) There was some stress in my life when we moved, but once we were settled and I focused on detoxing, even then I felt like I was spinning my wheels at times. I clearly remember during one flare, putting my head on my husband's shoulder and crying out to him, " I'm never going to get better! " But I did. It just seemed so frustratingly loooooooong. Be sure to take good care of yourself during this transition to owning your own business and make sure you have adequate support for when those times come when you just need a break. It does no good to push yourself when you are trying to recover, as the stress can delay your healing. But do make every effort to be consistently thinking " detox " . Do what you can to make sure you are not putting things in your body that will be detrimental, even in the short term, but back off when your body goes into a herx. Eventually things will improve little by little and you can feel the energy return. Stay hopeful! I never gave up hope that I would be better, though there were certainly times I felt defeated. Make sure you are not battling thyroid issues, and don't think that just because you may test normal once that it will be normal forever. My Hashimoto's didn't show up until 2002, fully 4 years after explant. If you have thyroid issues that are untreated, it will make you feel that fatigue, as well as the adrenal issues. When I forget my armour thyroid meds (like I did today), I can really feel it. I get tired early. It's not a quick healing trip. It's a journey. Settle in Cherie and don't be too anxious, okay?
