Guest guest
Lynda ~The neulasta is what they gave my Dad. We will know monday how well it worked. He didnt have any side effects til about 4-5 days after the shot, but that may have been cuz of all the steriods they have him on the first 6 days of each chemo. Then he did feel beat up......I will be honest about that, and it lasted about a week, then got better. I think it is different for everyone. I read a couple neulasta forums to see what people were saying about it, and some say they got the pain right away and it lasted 4 days, so ya just never know. You are in my prayers ! Guest guest
Lynda ~ He had only a pencil eraser size red spot where they gave him the shot, and his hair has been shedding, but no added hair loss. He still has lots of hair ! The pain from the neulasta shot lasted several days but that is it. God Bless you, Lynda, I know this is something you never thought you would be dealing with again. You are in my prayers ! ! This is Dad's second round with cancer too. His last was 10 yrs ago with gleeson 8 prostate cancer. Love you ~ DedeStart the year off right. Guest guest
Dede, The number one side effect of neulasta listed online is alopecia, almost 50%. Bone pain is the second side effect. Did he have a reaction at the site of injection? I dread this stuff. Guest guest
Lynda ~ Yes, the neulasta did give Dad the bad bone pain, but not till about 4 days later. Then it was bone splitting for a few days. It moved around from his legs to his arms, and even muscle pain. It lasted a few days then got better. He took 10 mg vicodans about every 3-4 hours. Meditated alot. Depending on his white count this time, he may not have to have another shot of it. Doc said he was just gonna base it on how well his neuts came back up. We will know by tomorrow. Guest guest
Dede, Thanks, I read that some have really bad bone pain from these shots. They gave me morphine pills. Guess they thought I would need them, between the RSD and the bone cancer and the neulasta. Guest guest
Dede, Your poor dad, I will say a prayer for him that he does not have to have the neulasta again. I hated the MRI of the breast. VERY uncomfortable. I am stretching the thoracentesis to 6 days so I don't have to drive another day to Boulder. And that will be on Wed. morning, then I have a tutorial with the nurse about the chemo, then see the doc. I saw the doc who put in the port today, he said it is not infected. It still hurts and there is some redness and heat. I had the echocardiagram today also. Man, I have been tested. I am soooooo tired of the testing. Probably start chemo by Friday.
