Welcome Mika,I've just been through a swallowing test for symptoms like you describe . . .Turns out I have a small hernia, and some reflux (GERD). . . This causes stomach acids to travel up the esphogaus when I lay down . . . This creates the kind of pain you describe. I'm doing much better since starting medication. If you'll tell your doctor just what you described, here, he/she should order a test. You'll soon know if you have a problem. In the meantime, avoid eating before bedtime . . . Mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and drink it. . . That will neutralize some of the acid. . . You might also try arranging pillows so your stomach is lower

than your shoulders while sleeping. You may want to read through the archives here, so if you do start having problems with your breast implants, you'll be read to take action. . . Hugs and prayers,Rogene Dull chest pain with nightime breathing

Hi Everyone,

I've been experiencing this for a very long time and it's slowly

getting worse. Doctors are of no help. The last doctor I mentioned to

gave me antidepressants! (without telling me!). I found out after I

read the info after I filled the prescription.

Here are the symptoms:

Dull chest pain with deep breathing at night, starting a few hours

into the night and progressing in intensity towards the morning. The

pain is so severe that I wine every time I wake up at night, or try to

turn (not so easy!), and it radiates to shoulders and abdomen. I end

up doing a very shallow kind of breathing all night, and its still

painful.

It occurs only after lying down for a period of time. It used to get

better if I slept on my side (rather than on my back). The pain goes

away slowly in the morning, after about an hour after getting up.

I've always blamed the implants since they are so close to the area of

pain, but I cannot be 100% sure.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

Thank you in advance,

Mika.

Thank you Rogene,

I'll try it. One question though, should I not be tasting acid in my

mouth if it's acid that's causing all this havoc at night? I don't

think I've ever had heartburn in my life...

Mika.

Mika,

When I had implants, I developed alot of digestive problems -

terrible heartburn, etc. Since I've been explanted I haven't had

those problems. Also, my chest hurt and I think it was because of

the pressure from the implants on my ribcage. When I would breathe

in, I would hear feel a popping sensation and get a terrible pain,

and my chiropractor said one of my ribs was dislocated.

Hi Sis,

That sounds like my pain, one of my ribs started cracking audibly

recently, and my spine cracks like a musical instrument every time I

move ;-)

I developed mild chest pain the day after my implants surgery and had

it ever since, but recently its unbearable at night especially. Maybe

its the combination of the two. I have my anti-GERD antacids with me

(as per Rogene's suggestion) and will try them starting tonight - my

dentist has pointed out acid wear on my teeth a few months ago but I

found it unbelievable at the time so I didn't take the meds.

Ever since I got my implants, the left one gets 'displaced' at night

and travels to the left and gives me a sharp muscle cramp. I have

learned not to sleep on my left side because of this and I have been

avoiding those cramps. Now I'm learning not to sleep on my back

because its hard to breathe (I can breathe fine on my side). Thank

God, I still have my right side to sleep on :-)

I'm getting explanted btw in June, because of the pain, but I would

hate to have had a wrong (self) diagnosis and go through another

surgery unnecessarily. It sounds though that I'll be doing it 'very

necessarily'.

Thank you for your reply,

Mika.

Hi Mika- I wasn't going to reply to your post because I thought maybe

you wanted to keep your implants, and I wanted you to take Rogene's

advice and see if that worked before you started looking into your

implants as the culprit. But, now that I know you have already

decided to get explanted, I wanted to tell you my experience with

chest pain real quick.

I started developing a lot chest pain in my left side after 3 years

of having my implants. It was minor at first, and after a few months

the pain started travelling into my shoulder and back. It got really

really bad after a few months and I was in constant pain. I decided

to have my implants removed this past November, and the pain

immediately went away. I discovered that the weight of the implant

caused my ribs to invert on the left side. I don't know if that has

anything to do with pain. I really don't know what about the implant

caused all the pain, but I do know it was from the implant.

You are doing your body a world of good by getting them removed, it

sounds like you are pretty miserable right now. Please make sure you

go to a surgeon who has lots of experience with explants and will do

your explant " en bloc " (whole/intact implants, not drain them first

before removal,) and will also remove your capsules as well as your

implants. Ask as many questions as you like, there is a lot of

knowledge in this group.

Mika,

I also had a terrible time sleeping while I had implants. I could

only sleep on my left side, with a pillow strategically placed and

my arm in a certain position. I couldn't sleep on my stomach, and

also couldn't sleep on my back. I never once regretted having the

implants removed - not once. It was so nice to be able to sleep

normally again. I don't have heartburn constantly like I did when I

had implants, either.
