I'm a lincense professional and just took a short course on grant writting. To do this the right way. We need a grant and a group of professionals. I don't enjoy ARC or the Lucanis Center I believe its called. I don't know about you but I have ideas about this and really can't wait to get things started. Email me off this list so we can meet up for coffee. I reside in Weston. Give me a heads up when we can meet. Thanks Connected by MOTOBLURâ„¢ on T-Mobile Grassroots idea As I sit here on a Saturday, Sunday, or any day off from school, I see my son bored and doing all the things he should not do. I know I can keep him busy to a certain extent, but not for 12 hours, as other moms I have other responsibilities and I may even want to have 5 minutes to myself. The point of all of this is an idea that has been rattling around in my mind for about 5 years. It is more of a question I have asked myself many times, which is why is there not a place, or a center, for special needs children? What I mean is a place where they can go and play and feel comfortable, this place can also provide different therapies if the parents desire, one place for everything-not run here for OT, here for speech, here for PT, here for ABA, music therapy, sensory therapy, and can go on and on. We as parents of these children know what it is like to feel like a pinball machine bouncing across South Florida to take these children to their therapies, and this is besides traveling all over town for errands and our other children. One centrally located place where they can go on weekends, days off, to play, socialize, also bring in typical children to model. Therapies offered to parents if this desire, but one central location. Maybe this is a pie-in-the sky idea? But can you just imagine if it actually could happen? I am putting this out there to see if other parents feel the same way. If enough do, maybe we can join forces and resources to make something like this happen if possible. I know this is a big proposal, just let me know what you guys think. Looking forward to hearing from everyone, Debbie Moed
