Guest guest
Hello Listmates, During the summer and for school holidays and the winter recess, my son LOVES LOVES going to Peer Link in South Dade. STS picks him up and drops him off. My son Logan is 20 now (autistic, speech and language delay), but has been going since he was 16. It is a full service Community Integration Program that offers a whole range of services to developmentally disabled teens and adults. They accept medwaiver - and they really worked with us to help us get Logan there, so whatever you have in government assistance, I hope they can help you too. Lots of actrivities like swimming, bowling, outings to malls, Dave & Buster's, alligator farm, etc. Honestly, Logan gets around more than we do. These people have been beyond wonderful to my boy, and I think they are the greatest group I've been privileged to find. I am just a mom, not a paid spokesperson or anything like that. I hope if someone needs something like this for their older kids here in Miami-Dade County, this will be useful. Here is their website: http://www.peerlinkprograms.com/ Regards, Janet Miami Mom of Logan (20) Katy (9) and Cami (7) - All Autistic P.S. - This isn't just for summer camp, it is available year round and they can even help with respite care.
