Guest guest
Lynda . . . It's good to hear your chemo went well . .. A friend is about to start chemo for a reoccurance of breast cancer . . . would it be OK if I put her in touch with you?Keeping your hair is incredible! I didn't realize it could be protected with an ice cap. Does the ice get uncomfortable in the process? . . . Do you just ice while doing the chemo?Love,Rogene
Guest guest
Rogene, Sure, have her email me. The cold cap does not really get uncomfortable. I used one 18 years ago and did not lose my hair while everyone around me was losing theirs. My sister made this one. I use ice on my ankles, feet, wrists and hands to keep down the hand-foot syndrome. Plus drink ice water the entire time. I also do steroids for 9 days after chemo and I ice my hands and feet many times a day. I wear white cotton gloves (available at Walgreens) and I use Calendula Salve, pure lanolin, hydrocortisone, shea butter, etc. to keep the reactions under control. I don't do things that irritate my hands because I don't want to be in pain and delay my chemo. I just sent out an update to the group. Guest guest
Lynda ~ I am glad your chemo went well, despite the reaction you had. It is nice you can take a med to help the reaction, and it wont lessen the efficacy of the chemo treatment. I am glad your RBC's are still up and your HGB, that is good. Is that nerve block still working for your RSD ? ? You and Collie are in my prayers ! Guest guest
Hi Dede, Doing ok, now have numb hands and feet from peripheral neuropathy. Might have to switch chemos. Hate this. My sister has a polyp in her sinus that has to be removed. That is why she keeps getting sinus infections and cannot get well. She will see an ENT tomorrow and hopefully have it removed and still be able to have surgery on Friday. I am doing ok except of the neuropathy and the usual fatigue and weakness and the usual hand/foot syndrome problems (fighting to keep it away contstantly). I will have the PET scan on the 5th and see the doc on the 8th. I will know more then, hopefully, about how many more treatments I need, 2 or 4. Thanks for thinking of me.
