Guest guest
Hi, I have hypothyroidism along with my rosacea, and the hypo stuff does cause me to become constipated. Psyllium made it worse for me too. What helps me is to vary the types of fiber I get every day. For example, I'll have oatmeal for breakfast, whole wheat bread for lunch and then brown rice for dinner. I eat corn bran cereal and buckwheat to vary the types of grains. I also have beans a few times a week. Yams are good to have a couple of times a week too. If I overdo any of the foods (eat just brown rice for a few days as my grain/starch), then my regularity goes away. Hope that helps! Guest guest
The psyllium fiber is mostly insoluble fiber and it can cause problems in some people when transit time is slow. When this occurs most of the water is removed and the food mass becomes dry making it difficult to eliminate. That is why I recommend large amounts of olive oil to lubricate and to keep the additional fiber soft until transit time improves. Most important is chewing your food slower and longer with the last food eaten, especially. Smaller food particles digest faster, it increases the surface area exposed to the digestive juices. What it really comes down to is that it takes a combination to improve digestion. One item will not do, and what works for one may not work for another. So you have to find the combination that works for you. I am writing Part 3 which may have some helpful info to improve your condition.
