I haven't yet received any notice from social security in the mail but I did receive a deposit to my checking account this morning in the amount of $24,750 from US Treasury Soc Sec. The news is both a relief and scary, of course. Being declared disabled by the federal government will help me qualify for some assistance programs, including Medicare. On the other hand, as a single person relying on only SSDI for income, I'll have no choice but to move into cheaper housing and eventually move back home with family.
