Re: Should I wait until after explant to get stool tests?

Hi April,

While I spent way too much money, time and agony with testing and

wouldn't do most of it again, I did find the food panel helpful. I did

mine before explant. I was intolerant to a lot of foods though and

miserable after every meal.

A former member ( P) used the Enterolab to diagnose her gluten

sensitivity and feels that was one key to her recovery.

I think a lot of this will resolve on it's own with diet, detox and

explant. The benefit of testing would be that your immune system

wouldn't have to fight off foods that you might be eating regularly but

that might be giving you problems you're unaware of. I had no idea I

was intolerant to corn, peas, yogurt or peanuts but scored really high

on the test. All were part of my daily diet and I thought I was being

healthy because they were organic.

An alternative to the testing would be an elimination/rotation diet

until the gut heals and can tolerate more foods. Love, PH

I never had that test.... I just followed the diet similar to Maker's Diet... Dr. Kolb also has her diet on her website at www.plastikos.com

Avoid Gluten...

Your body will tell you the rest... Keep a log of things when you eat and write down how you feel... I know if I touch a egg, I cramp in pain, so I avoid them with all cost... I used to be able to eat them too.. Not now... I was not supposed to be eating dairy any way, but I always would slip in an egg... My body rejected them so I stopped that as well..

I would defiantly start the diet, either Maker's Diet or the one on Dr. Kolb's site... That will help you so much... I noticed no change in health until I did the diet and detoxing...

Good Luck,

~Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.

PH,

This is exactly what I am concerned about. If there are specific

things I'm eating that are causing problems for me I'd like to know

about it. Since I don't know, I just wonder every time I eat if I'm

gonna end up feeling bloated, etc afterwards. To be honest, up until

now I haven't wanted to be tested b/c I just didn't want to have to

deal w/not being able to eat things I like. But I am just so tired of

this inhibiting my life. I know I can only do so much before explant,

but at least it would get me on the road to recovery. I have come a

long way already but it's been stagnant for awhile. I feel so trapped

right now. There are so many things I want and need to do that I can't

do. I feel like life is passing me by sometimes. I'm sure everyone

here can relate. That's why I'm so thankful for this group.

BTW, the test says it's a " serum " test, does that mean blood serum?

How is the test performed?

Thanks,

April

Hi April,

Yes, the food panel was taken by blood serum. I can't remember how

many vials are taken but it's quite a few.

I know exactly what you mean by worried about every bite you would

take due to symptoms! Eating became downright stressful back then.

Since testing and explant though, my worries have been much less

because I no longer bloat and have recently started eating some

things that previously would give me problems. Just hang in there.

Sounds like you're doing so many of the right things to get your gut

back on track. Love, PH

April . . .

PH is really the stress expert here . . . she was stressing . . . and stressing ... and stressing.

I can't remember how many times we told PH to relax, that she would get better . . that it just takes time and patience! . . . And, while she's still having problems, now she's seeing progress!

Stress really does get in the way of your body's natural healing abilility.

I suggest journaling everything you eat, drink, supplements, therapies, etc. . and how you feel. Mercola's clinic gave PH a really good outline for journaling . . . Then you should be able to see the relationship between what you're doing/eating and how you feel. And, as you begin to get better, you'll be able to look back and see how far you've come!. . .

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

LOL...Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one! ;o)

Yeah, I can definitely tell when I've been stressing - it is not

good. I have actually tried the food/symptom journal. I did that

for a month. But I could not seem to correlate the symptoms with the

foods I was eating. Maybe I'll give another go. I wonder if I could

get ahold of Mercola's journal? I just made one up myself and I

think it may have made it a little confusing for me (it doesn't take

much to confuse me!). :o)

Thanks, Rogene.
