Guest guest
If PSC is autoimmune, I would image that there would be a blood test used to help diagnose it. I just had 20 vials of blood taken a few weeks ago, and the results are in my hands. I'll be seeing my doc on Thursday, but of course, I want to know what I can in advance so I can be ready with questions. Are there certain antibodies that PSC patients tend to produce? And what about Ulcerative Colitis? Antibodies for that? Any help is obviously appreciate. (Waiting to find out what the heck is happening to me...) Guest guest
PSC isn't always an autoimmune problem. There is a higher prevelance of other autoimmune issues with those with PSC than in the general population though. 60%+ (have read different numbers) of people with PSC have a positive pANCA test, but that alone isn't a test that says you definately have PSC. Here's a good article about PSC that I like-that I am guessing you may have already seen-but I think it explains diagnosing PSC well http://www.emedicine.com/PED/topic1895.htm Lori lucky mom blessed with wonderfully wild triplets www.caringbridge.org/visit/braden > If PSC is autoimmune, I would image that there would be a blood test > used to help diagnose it.
