Hi ,

Sorry to hear of your ER visit. That must have been scary! If you

haven't found a good ND, I'd consider finding one who can discuss

this with you. Also, if you haven't called Dr. Kolb or emailed her,

www.plastikos.com , she could talk to you about your capsules. I

don't know much about the blood work, but I did look up pancreatitis

and here's what I found: -- (I wouldn't do the soybeans though as

they're not good for thyroid.) Hang in there, . We're all

praying for you! Love, PH

Complementary and Alternative Therapies

A number of studies have explored the role of oxidative stress in

pancreatitis. Oxidative stress results from the production of free

radicals, which are by-products of metabolism that are harmful to

cells in the body. Several ways to neutralize these deleterious

effects have evolved over time. Antioxidants, for example, help rid

the body of free radicals. Insufficient antioxidant levels in the

blood (including reduced amounts of vitamin A, vitamin E, selenium,

and carotenoids), though, may lead to chronic pancreatitis due to the

destructive effects of increased free radical activity. Antioxidant

deficiency and the risk of developing pancreatitis may be

particularly relevant in areas of the world with low soil

concentrations or low dietary intake of antioxidants. In addition,

the cooking and processing of foods may destroy antioxidants. Alcohol-

induced pancreatitis is linked to low levels of antioxidants as well.

There is also some evidence that antioxidant supplements may

eliminate or minimize oxidative stress and help alleviate pain from

chronic pancreatitis.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------

Nutrition

As explained, low levels of antioxidants in the blood may make an

individual more prone to develop pancreatitis; at the same time,

someone who already has pancreatitis is more likely to develop

deficiencies of the following nutrients:

Magnesium – particularly in the case of chronic alcoholism

Methionine

Selenium

Vitamin A

Vitamin C

Vitamin E

Some studies do suggest that taking these nutrients mentioned,

particularly the latter five each of which has antioxidant

properties, can reduce the pain from which people with pancreatitis

suffer and recover more readily from the condition. Other potentially

valuable supplements to take include:

Vitamin B12; levels may be low with pancreatitis; works best in this

case if given by injection.

Soybeans; extracts of soybeans known as polyunsaturated

phosphatidylcholines (PCs) work as antioxidants and have demonstrated

prevention of damage to the pancreas in animal studies.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------

Herbs

Emblica officinalis (Indian gooseberry) is a traditional Ayurvedic

medicinal plant used to treat pancreatic disorders. It is the richest

natural source of vitamin C. Animal studies further suggest that this

herb can be used to prevent development of pancreatitis.

Individual case reports suggest that traditional Chinese medicines

are effective for the prevention and treatment of pancreatitis

including the following which are also used commonly as both Western

and Ayurvedic treatments of gastrointestinal disorders:

Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Ginger root (Zingiber officinale)

Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng),

Peony root(Paeonia officinalis)

Cinnamon Chinese bark (Cinnamomum verum)

Animal studies further suggest the value of using these herbs in

combination along with the following herbs:

Bupleurum (Bupleri falcatum L)

Pinelliae tuber (Pinelliae ternata)

Chinese skullcap (Scutellariae baicalensis)

Jujube (Zizyphi jujuba)

To determine the regimen for each individual, it is best to see a

skilled herbalist or licensed and certified practitioner of

traditional Chinese medicine, particularly because these herbs often

work best in combination.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------

Acupuncture

The value of acupuncture for treating pancreatitis is controversial.

There are case reports stating that acupuncture has helped relieve

pain from pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. But a review of several

studies finds that results of acupuncture and electroacupuncture

(small electrical currents applied through acupuncture needles) for

pancreatitis are mixed with some concluding that there is no benefit

with the addition of either of these modalities for people with

pancreatitis.

Rogene,

Should I be taking some digestive enzymes with my meals? Do you think that will help with my swelling. Everybody here has been taking the snot out of probiotics and All I take is 4 a day of Primal Defense.

Your right I cant wait to get them toxic capsules out. I think this is the year of healing for me. Oh yeh............Is it OK when I do this liver flush that Patty did that I could take my probiotics with it. The directions say no to take supplements!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am stuck on that one.

Thanks, LOVE

Hi ,

I take digestive enzymes before each meal to help break down the

food. Some people take them in between meals and others after

meals. I truly don't know the best time because everything I've read

seems to conflict.

As far as the liver flush, I just did my 4th one last night/today. I

always skip all my supplements, including probiotics. Definitely

follow the protocol to a T time-wise. It says not to eat or drink

after 2. Well I ate lunch at 2:15 thinking 15 minutes won't make a

difference. It does!! I was soooo sick I thought I was going to

vomit all night long. Love, PH

I'd give digestive enzymes a try and see if they help . .. You may want to experiment with when you use them . . . If they help, that's great.

Anything you take with the liver flush will be wasted . . . The time for probiotics is after the flush, not before, or with it.

You may want to work up to eight Primal Defense a day . . . but, since you still have your capsules, all you can hope to do is to tread water right now. . . . You may want to experiment to see how you feel - then go by that.

Everyone is different. . . You'll find that, as time goes by, you'll be comfortable adjusting supplements to how YOU feel. . . Just learn to listen to your body. . . It will tell you!

Rogene

Ph,

Thanks for the tip I think 15 minutes wouldn't have affected it but if it did you than I wont even try. I am going to start enzymes than right after my flush. Do you take Magnesuim Citrate in place of the epsom salt like Patty did???????????? I plan on doing the liver flush today but I already took my probiotics this morning. Well I am gonna have to go for it.

Ph,

Thanks for the encouragement!!!!! How often can we do these liver flushes? Do you know? I'll stick to juicing apples and eating apples today for the flush thanks for the tip.

Hope you are feeling better

My friend's sister works in the UK and is a lab technician: she tests blood. Here is what she wrote back to my friend about this:

"I have had a look at those test results and I think there is a thyroid problem and also allergy. It depends on what units they are reported in but here is what we do.

FT4 Thyroxine 10.3-24.5 pmol/L

TSH 0.4-4.0 mU/L

If the units are the same this girl has no thyroxine and needs treatement at 0.74 but even if the units are not the same and the reference range the same then it is still low. You can get a high amylase also if there is backpressure anywhere in the liver area eg a tumor.

As for the protein it is a little high. It does depend on the ratio of albumin to globulin which makes up the total protein and if the globulin is raised or there is a band in the electrophoresis strip this may be an immune disease- an example is myeloma.

The basophil count was very high and we have recently seen a basophil leukaemia which is very rare indeed. It is worth more of an investigation as all these things may be linked.

The low red cells suggests a spleen problem with lack of red cell production or anaemia caused by maemotological disorder. I would refer this to a haematologist for sure. No good self treating with B12 and not finding out if it is pernicious anaemia.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you ever find out."

I hope this wasn't too shocking. I felt weird typing it. (my friend gave me a printout of her sister's email, so I had to re-type it) Maybe it's one more thing to show your doctor as a reference point to have him/her discuss each point?

Dede,

I am so glad your amused!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I cant wait til its your turn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

I have so much pressure I am hopeing its not halftime and just fart football. What do ya do when the pressures so great doing this liver flush and you cant lay on your back.

I feel like it is a football coming out. Praise God I wish it would just get the pressure off and get to football game. LOLOLOL

I love ya girls, hey it would not be fun around here if I took this serious all the time...But no lie the pressure is very great.
