Guest guest
Hi - I just wanted to see if this sounds normal coming from my ND's office. Now, as I have osted before, my ND does not make me feel comfortable with all the supplements I am taking. I think they are all good supplements but that I because I researhed them. My ND really does not make me understand what they are and why she feels they are going to do for me in the long run. I always get the same answer, " they are to help balane your bod out " . I take 6 pills 3 times a day right now. I take 2 different probotis, a digestive enzyme and then some things to help support my immune system and things like that. However, I got a call today from her office and they got my hair analysis back and want to start me on a protocol for 3-4 months based on the results from that. Once again, I am not getting a clear explaination of everything and when I ask, she gets pretty defensive like I am questioning her opinion on supplements. Anyways, the new supplements she wants me to take are in addition to the ones I am already taking. So, I will be taking 13 pills 3x day and the news ones will cost about $130./month plus the cost of what I am already taking. This just seems very exteme to me. I was under the impression that what I was taking was all I would need to take, now they want me to spend another $130 a month for the next 3- 4 months on MORE supplements plus I will have to refill some of the ones I am already on as they run out. I am just getting frustrated because funds are tight and I also am in need of getting some cavities filled. I feel like I am being pulled in all different directions, not getting much of anywhere and losing alot of money doing it. OK, I am done venting....whew!!!!! I just have read where some peole have said the supplements have made them feel worse......I am just not sure what to do first (supplements or teeth) and what will help me the most. I also wonder if for the past 2 weeks, all the supplements I have been taking...if they are even really doing anything or not since they want me to take more!!!! I feel like I am throwing my money out the window yet again!!!! Much Love, Beth
Guest guest
That is such a great question Krista!!!!!! I have NO idea!!!! That is the problem - they say they will send me my supplements with the instructions on how to use them. But they will not send me the supplements list without purchasing them. Although, maybe I could get the receptionis to give me the names of them on the phone!!!! However, they are sending me a copy of my hair analysis results in the mail so I should have it in the next day or so. I will let you know what the results are when I get them. If I can read them. I guess that is just my problem with this whole thing....shouldn't my ND call me and go over the results with me instead of just giving me MORE pills to take???? I'll keep you posted on the hair results. It's like she does not want me to question anything she is doing. Much Love, Beth Re: Heard from my ND today Beth- What were the results of the hair analysis and what supplements are they suggesting you add?Love, Krista>> Hi - I just wanted to see if this sounds normal coming from my ND's > office. Guest guest
Oh Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Beth!!!! Yes, after my ND got my results back, she sat down with me for over and hour and we discussed them all! Then, she explained each and every supplement to me and why she is recommending I take them. Okay first, I'd wait and get your hair analysis in the mail (I can't believe the doctor didn't call you and dicuss them with you!) Then, tell us what they are (hopefully, all these ladies can help you decipher them and see what came up out of range or positive.) Then, after that, I call your ND's office and ask them WHAT supplements they are recommending and WHY! Then, I'd take that info and go buy them somewhere else (like shelly recommended!) I'm sorry you found a dud of an ND. Don't keep wasting your money on them. Love, Krista > > > > Hi - I just wanted to see if this sounds normal coming from my > ND's > > office. Guest guest
Thanks Krista - I am glad I am not the only one who thinks she is a DUD. Thing is, she supposely has her doctor degree in naturopathy and is one of the best in Ohio. I honestly think she just wants to tell you what to take without explaining anything. I have 1 other ND office that is actually really close to me but he did not offer all the testing I was looking for. I may now take my test results back to him and work with him. They are super helpful but not as modern as I had hoped for. Ok, I will wait to get my results in the mail and then go from there. I just hate to keep spending this much money and feel like I am not getting anywhere. I will keep in touch on the resuls and hopefully I an get on my own "protocol"!!!! Guest guest
Hi Beth, My ND explains everything to me and I have to start all my supplements out slowly so my body handle it. I agree with Krista, you've got a DUD. You have be told what they are for and really to start out gradually, don't just start taking several supplements daily. You should work up to the recommended dosage. If I do not like something he's given me, I tell him about it and stop taking it. Right now I am actually cutting back on many of mine because I feel that my body is not ready for all of them yet. I've been feeling worse instead of better. My ND is ok with me doing that, he likes the fact that I listen to my body and take action. I'm so with ya girlfriend...the cost is killing me too and I'm not feeling better yet. My ND has now referred me to a place for colon hydrotherapy, that will cost me too. Hopefully I will start to feel better before I run out of money. Good Luck! Guest guest
Beth . . . It sounds like you're going around in circles, stressing all the way. Please take a deep breath . . . Calmly tell your ND that, for your peace of mind, you must understand what you are taking and why. . . Something like, "***** I know you're busy, and I appreciate the time you're taking to talk to me. But I need your help. . . .I'm the kind of person who needs to understand these supplements and why I'm taking them, or I can't bring myself to take so many pills. . . Could you find a few minutes to review each supplement with me so I can work with you?" Don't challenge her knowledge . . . don't put her on the defense . . . Just ask for help. If she can't provide the information you need, you may have to find another ND. But she owes it to you to explain what she's recommending and why. Keep in mind there is more than one way to do almost anything. If you don't like, or can't afford, one method, it's time to search for another. Guest guest
Beth, I wish you could find a new ND. The fact your ND is getting defensive is a huge red flag to me!! Come on, you are paying them. You should be getting every bit of information on those tests they run - PERIOD!! I would fire them, sorry but that is just my opinion. As for supplements, I can't take many - they make me ill. But I also have auto-immune issues so I am not a good one to ask about supplements. Overall I think there are some great ones and under the supervision of a good ND - who understands auto-immune - I will hopefully someday take them too. As for the teeth. I can only get a few done each year due to $$. So I am going to do coffee enemas, foot detox baths and good diet. I think everybody is different in what their bodies can and can't handle. Sorry you are having to deal with this ND. I have to drive a good 30 mins to get to a good ND, but I know it is probably nothing compared to you. OH the joys of small town living - I love it but this is a drawback. Hugs, Lynn > > Hi - I just wanted to see if this sounds normal coming from my ND's > office.
