Guest guest
I have a 20 year old that won't let anyone near him with a needle. We use to hold him down. I was thinking if you have a doctor that give him something to relax him. I feel your pain. I will be looking for some other suggestions because he is too big to hold down anymore. Thank youSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryDate: Fri, 19 Mar 2010 06:54:35 -0700 (PDT)To: <sList >Subject: Blood Level - Test Hi Listmates,Does anyone have knowledge on how to have blood drawn from a 250 lb, 17 year old, non-verbalboy with autism? Guest guest
Many years ago we needed to do bloodwork to check on meds. Our very talented behavior therapist had me get lots of supplies-rubber band or something to tie the arm, our pharmacist gave me several needles to practice with( did not use-just pretended) and we simulated the whole event(alcohol wipe etc) We practiced it all the time until we actually needed to do the blood draw. It went incredibly smooth and still continues today. We did the same thing with going to the dentist and all the tools in the mouth. Hope this helps.
