Guest guest
Hi Cherie, A parent of an autistic child sent me this link a few minutes ago. It's a great summary article discussing diet, digestive enzymes, supplements, thyroid, glutathione and other treatments...there's a great chart at the end of the paper comparing the effectiveness of various supplements and diets. The data is from 25,000 parents...by far the biggest sample I've seen. http://autism.asu.edu/Additional/Summarybiomed07.pdf I don't want to overwhelm you with it at all but I did want to point out that you're doing everything right by starting with diet. Your daughter is so lucky to have you! PH
Guest guest
Thanks Ph, Your so sweet! Thanks for the link too. I have actually tried looking for a DAN Dr. however one of the only onces in my area is no longer taking new patients so I'm taking her to my ND. I know a DAN Dr. would be better but at least this is a start. I am in hopes of finding one in the future. Guest guest
Hi Cherie, It's sad that there aren't more DAN docs out there. A good ND is just as effective though because they understand the whole nutrition/yeast thing. Yours sounds really good. I bet if you tell your ND about the DAN approach he or she would try to follow it. I can't find a good ND myself but I have a great chiro who treats autistic children as well. I told her I wanted to go on a probiotic that DAN docs recommend because it's supposedly more effective than any other and she was willing to get it for me and thankful too because she'll use it for some of her other patients. It's Therbiotic Detox by Klaire Labs http://klaire.com/V770-06_proddetail.htm One advantage is that you only have to take 1-2 of these per day versus 8 of the Primal Defense...although PD has more strains...but you still get more beneficial bacteria w/ the Therbiotic. It is by prescript only but any kind of doc can get it just by calling Klaire.
