Oh Lynn,

I'm so sorry. . . I know you feel the floor has just fallen out from under you . . . It will get better though as you learn more about your options.

You might want to check into some place that does brachytherapy.

Essentially, IF it is cancer, they can do radiation while you're still in the OR (one treatment). Or, they can implant a balloon into which a wire is inserted with nodes that deliver radiation right to the site. . . . It should take five days to do a complete round of therapy that way.

I could have saved myself a procedure, and time, with my breast cancer had I known what to request.

If it was me, I'd start with the procedure, then find a specialist who knows what to do. . .

Here, one of the places here is the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. . .

If you'll check this out, you might save yourself lots of time and misery.

A P.E.T scan should determine IF it is cancer ... You'll drink a sugary drink laced with a radioactive substance that is asborbed by cancer cells . . . resulting in a scan that makes cancer light up like a Christmas tree. I would insist on the scan before anyone does ANY cutting.

M.D. has an outstanding radiation program . . if you need it, and if your insurance covers it.

Hugs and prayers,

Rogene

Researching Doctor's (Dede or anybody who can help)

I recall Dede posting a website to rate a doctor. I can't remember the site. Does anybody recall what it is? I have to have surgery on my right ovary. My CA-125 came back high and after ultrasounds they found a mass. I am thinking it is an endometrioma that my prior OB/GYN refused to remove about 2 years ago. Anyhow, it is growing. I need to get it removed but I refuse to go to my previous OB/GYN. So, I need a new surgeon and I would like to research a few prior to making an appt. If you know the website, please post it. PS... I noticed Toni Braxton was hospitalized in Las Vegas - I thought she had issues with implants, wonder if that is the cause now?Hugs, Lynn

Lynn,

If it is any comfort, my sister had the same thing removed 6 months

ago and it was benign. We are praying for yours to be the same.

I would find a good surgeon in Boulder or Denver, ask Dr. Huang.

Thank you a ! I am a bit nervous about it

cuz, in the past, I have had cervical cancer and

colon cancer, but I am trying to not think it to

death right now, and worry about something that

I dont know for sure. Hopefully they wont make

me wait too long after this pet scan I am having friday.

The meds they give you will make any cancer glow.......

wish they were doing my whole body and not just my

lungs. Peace of mind would be nice. I will just practice

peace of mind anyway ! !

Love you, and so glad you are doing so well. I read as

many posts as I can these days, but am a bit behind on

posting, I just havent felt well in a good while. So much

going on at my house.

Hugs Hope and Prayers ~ Dede

Rogene,

Never hurts to ask. I do think that either way I will have to have

it removed though, it is growing and if it gets bigger it may cause

issues. I think it may have something to do with my hip pain. I

found a correlation on-line to hip pain and endo. My rt hip hurts

and it is my right ovary. Wouldn't it be nice if I have the ovary or

endometrioma removed and the pain went away - that would be wonderful.

scan . . . They're expensive, so they're not offered all the

time. . . But insurance should pay for one if you have a mass and a

high CA-125 score.
