New website for Autism Research Institute (ARI)

ARI debuted its new website earlier this week at www.autism.com, featuring a whole new

look and an easier for users to navigate through the site. For a brief

video introduction from our Executive Director, Dr. Steve Edelson, go to

the home page and click on “View Welcome Video.â€

Autism Network for Hearing and Visually Impaired Persons

The Network for Hearing and Visually Impaired Persons, supported by ARI,

consists of parents and affected individuals as well as professionals

with special interest in people with autism and deafness and/or autism

and blindness. This network can direct you to support and services

available in your local area or community. There are no costs or fees to

join. If you join the network, the staff will respond to your questions

or concerns, keep your information confidential, connect you with those

in your area who have similar disabilities, and refer you to the

appropriate resources in your community. To join the network, click here.

The Autism Research Institute’s Apple and Android Applications

ARI's has published two

applications for Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iTouch) and Android cell

phones.

One application is free to install and contains an advice paper for

parents of newly diagnosed children, with the overriding message that

“Autism is Treatable.†Topics discussed include prevalence, diagnosis,

diets, nutritional supplements, vaccines, ABA, speech development and

much more. Authors of this paper include: Drs. , Steve

Edelson, Temple Grandin, and Bernard Rimland.

The second

application contains more in-depth information about treatments, along

with recommended readings (print and Internet), ARI’s monthly

e-newsletter, and ARI’s popular Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist

(ATEC). Costs of the application is only 99 cents. Both the free and paid

versions can be downloaded from the iTunes

website.

ARI has also developed a smart phone application for Android devices.

download the most recent application. The Android version costs 99 cents.

Other smart phone applications will be posted on the ARI website and at www.AutismApp.com as they become

available.

French and Spanish applications will be available soon.
