For me, very often something that tasted really good will start to be

"blah" partway through the meal.  This is my cue that I'm getting too

full to enjoy the food.  It sounds like you really had an "aha!"

moment.  Congrats!

So I’ve been struggling with the whole “stop

when you’re full†part of IE for a while now.   But this

week, I think I’ve made a bit of a breakthrough and thought I’d share.

If I rely on cues from my stomach, I miss them completely.

But I noticed that partway through a meal, eating starts to

become more work, not as easy as it was when I began the meal.  Or

sometimes halfway through, I find I need to add more salt or pepper or

parmesan cheese to make the meal taste as good as it was to start.

It hit me – these are my body’s cues that it’s done.   My

stomach won’t catch up with my mouth for a while, so I have to pay

attention to the mouth cues.  Granted, I haven’t

practiced this much yet, but the times I tried it this week, I felt

full but not stuffed if I stopped when I realized the food was less

enjoyable and more work that it was to begin with.  Will

keep practicing and update later…
