Sue, I think when I binged that I would "zone out," not only how my stomach felt, but also the negative feelings that would always overtake me when the binge was finally over. No one could verbally abuse me as badly as I could!

A light bulb went on when you mentioned the lack of self trust and trusting your body to tell you when, what and how much to eat. Building this trust is one thing I want to achieve with this process. Think it will go a long way in helping me to resolve this problem of determining what comfortable fullness feels like for this body.

Thank you, Sue, for sharing your insights!

Best wishes,

Jeanne

There's been times when I've binged precisely because I wanted to

zone. Talk about self-medicating!

I am beginning to realize that trust and choice is really important. When

dieting, all the choice is taken away. We don't trust ourselves to make food

decisions- no fat, no carbs, no sugar, no white food... I haven't eaten fruit

for years because as a child it was the only " choice " i had, as an adult it had

too many " carbs " . I have had an apple twice this week, it was my choice, and it

was fabulous-like chocolate fabulous! How crazy is that? What a freeing feeling

to know that if i can just trust myself, i will make the right food choices.

Sohni, I'm sure I've done the same. When the stress has become a little too much to handle, all I could think of was eating something, preferably eating as much I could of a favorite carbo, because at that particular moment, I would feel better while doing it. How crazy is that!
